Hello helpful people! I came into Thailand recently on a 90 day non-immigrant B visa with the invitation letter from a school. Have decided not to teach at that school due to bad reports about the owner. Do I need to do anything when looking for another job, like getting my visa transferred over to the other school? Most importantly - can the school I decided not to work for cancel my inital 90 day non immigrant B visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon entering Thailand with a 90-day Non-Immigrant B visa tied to a school that you have decided not to work for, you can remain in the country until your visa expires. However, the visa is typically company-specific, meaning you might need to get a new visa/work permit to work for another school. It's essential to check if the first school initiated your work permit application and formally ask them to cancel it if it has. While the original sponsoring school cannot cancel your visa, you will need to ensure that you comply with the immigration rules if you seek new employment.

You are here on 90 days stamp from the visa. You or your school cannot do with this stamp, you can stay until this stamp's up without no problem even if you don't work with the school.

But, you better check your school if they already started the application process for your work permit. If so, you need to ask them to cancel it clearly.

Now, if you want to work with another school/employer, find one and talk with them if they can proceed with your visa/work permit application in-country. Though most likely you may need to leave and come back to Thailand once.

As a rule Non-B visas are company specific and it's usually noted on the visa if you have a sticker OR might be in the remarks on the PDF file if you have an eVisa.

If it has the name of the company that sponsored you for the visa on it you can't use it to work for anyone else (you can't get an extension at the immigration office based on employment to another company).

BUT

You can stay the 90 days that visa allows and no one can cancel it.

visas can't be transferred over to anything, IF the one you have says who the company is, and you decide NOT to work for them you're done after 90 days and you need to leave, re-enter and start over with a new Non-B for a new company.
