We as a family are going to move to thailand and leave our homecountry on a dtv visa.

My wife and two sons are coming as a dependent. On the date of application my oldest son is 19 years old and next year he is becoming 20 years.

Does he need a new visa or can he stay as a dependent as long our visa is valid?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question concerns the validity of a dependent visa for a 19-year-old son who will turn 20 during the family's stay in Thailand on a DTV visa. Responses indicate that typically, dependent status ends when a child turns 20, though specific rules about the DTV visa are unclear. It is advised to consult the embassy or relevant immigration authorities for confirmation on whether a new visa will be necessary once the child reaches 20.

Also curious if anyone has applied for their dependents and used the same bank statement.

Have you ever stayed more than a couple of weeks holiday in Thailand ?

Everyday life is much different from holiday life, so relocating a family is not a great idea, based on a few weeks stay in another country.

I’m debating between Thailand and Italy. Going to spend a few months in each, starting September. Then again, I’m living in Taiwan now.

Normally in Thailand a 20 year old is not a dependent but the dtv is so new I don't know. Ask your embassy

Does your embassy ask for a proof of 500 000 for each applicant including dependents?

no embassy should be asking for that. But each dependant visa will have the same price.

the briefing the immigration officers were given said only 500,000 for the primary. But embassies can make their own rules if they want.

mine is very unclear. I thought the main applicant give the same bank statement for all dependents.

We are 4. Paying fees for 4 people ok but showing bank statements of a total 2 millions baths sounds crazy. And my kids don’t have their own bank account 😂

I know for LTR visa, a dependent visa is cancelled when a child reaches 20 years old. Not sure about the DTV though
