TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is inquiring about visa options available based on having a Thai son who is now 22 years old. Responses indicate that the Non-Immigrant O visa, typically available for parents of Thai children, has an age limit; specifically, the child must be under 20 years old to qualify for a yearly extension. Therefore, since the son exceeds this age, the visa options may be limited, and it is advised to check with the Thai embassy for specific eligibility requirements.

As
@St***
pointed out, you could get a Non-Immigrant Type O visa from a thai consulate BEFORE you wing your way here. That would give you 90 days here and then you could extend it by 60 more days based on visiting family BUT you couldn't qualify for a yearly extension because the age limit to use half thai children as a reason for a yearly extension is 20 (and they have to live with you too).

You would be entitled to a non imm o visa based on having a Thai dependant if you meet the requirement of the embassy where you apply

@Steve ******
there is when applying for an extension of stay though :/ So all they could get would be a Non-O visa IF a thai consulate would sell it to them.

Robert is incorrect, there's no age limit to apply for a non imm visa based on dependancy

you may be correct. But Robert Lagas said contrary, if I read his reply correctly. Thanks for your post ๐Ÿ˜Š

Age doesnt matter if you have Thai dependant relatives

See Robert Lagas post above...the OP son is age of 22 ...

The so called guardian visa, Non Immigrant O based on children depending on you and the Extension of Stay are limited to the age of the children of 20 years of age. If you're son is 22 years old this visa is not for you.

Was your marriage recorded in Thailand prior to the birth of your son?

For reference this is what the Thai Embassy in USA states...some may assist in your question:
