We are planning to switch our son from our non-O Retirement extension to a visa from his Intl. school. When we cancel him off the retirement visa, will this affect the visa holder (my husband) or me (another dependent)? We are Americans. I am also wondering if our son needs to leave the country to get the new visa; I haven't gotten many details from the school yet.

You all have Extensions of Stay, big stamps from the immigration office. You have to ask the school and Immigration if it is possible to change the reason for your son, Extension of Stay based on being a dependent of his father into based on study in Thailand. It does not effect the Extensions of Stay from the parents.
