TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about overstaying their 60-day tourist visa in Thailand by one day. According to the comments, if you leave one day after your visa expires, you will receive an overstay stamp in your passport, possibly incurring a fine of 500 baht. While the overstay stamp is generally not a major issue for re-entering Thailand, it could complicate visa applications for other countries. Many commenters advise against overstaying but note that minor overstays are often handled leniently by immigration.

I did one day over as I was delayed coming from the North a few years back - paid 500 at the airport and asked "any problems coming back?" they said come back tomorrow if you want 🙂 Had the same misfortune in Aus 10 years back - two year ban. P.S had no efffect on my retirement VISA approvwl a year later

It's illegal and you shouldn't do it.

I was one day late the last time I visited Thailand and the immigration officer told me that it was not a problem since it was only one day. I’m just telling you what he told me.
Albert *****

@Jonny *******
overstay is bad advise.

It's not the money .

It's straight to Thai prison if you get checked and a glaring red light to all immigration officers .

I would extend or leave

@Randy *****
He’s right. If police have cause to stop you and find out you’ve overstayed, you will be arrested and deported.

@Ralph ******
Deported? Fair enough. But not thrown in Thai Xing Xing
Ralph *******
@Randy *****
No. they have holding areas for deportees.
Graham ******
@Randy *****
You will be arrested and put in the Immigration deportation centre until your flight home which you pay for and get blacklisted for at least 5 years

@Randy *****
if you are pulled over by police or asked for your ID and it is expired you will be arrested. Happened last week at a bar in Jomtien when police were doing an ID check.

Wjy not leave on Sunday?
Craig ********
Don't do it

Overstaying is never good, will leave a remark in the Immigration history.

Would rather be law-abing and get a extension.

And count days more accurate next time.

Within 24 hours and leaving via an airport you’ll get an overstay stamp in your passport but they’ll usually waive the 500 baht fine.

The overstay stamp isn’t an issue for returning to Thailand but can cause issues in other countries when applying for a visa for there. They see the overstay stamp for Thailand and may it cause problems.

Any real evidence of an overstay stamp causing a visa refusal in another country?

Many countries are now issuing visas online. They do not even get to see what other stamps are in the passport.
Wayne *********
@Richard *******
maybe can get a visa online but when they arrive and immigration check their passport they could be refused entry. Visa does not guarantee entry
Stuart *********
@Richard *******
Not real evidence but read posts on here and other forums that they’ve caused issues. I seem to recall Vietnam and Russia were mentioned.
Graham ******
@Stuart ********
Singapore and Malaysia are the 2 I recall

@Richard *******
some countries do ask if you've ever been refused a visa or overstayed
Richard ********
@John *********
yes, but that refers to the country you are applying to.

no it doesn't, it is not specific
