What does the validity date of my O visa mean for my trip to Thailand?

I applied for an O visa, 60-90 days. On the application I put my arrival and leaving dates: 63 days. Arrival 5 Jan, leaving 8 March. The visa was approved. But it says Valid From 14 November. Valid Until 11 Feb. These dates do not match my trip dates. This is my first O visa application. What does this mean? Do I present this approved visa to immigration on arrival at BKK? Do I present this visa as proof of travel to my airline if asked? Thanks for any help with understanding this!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is confused about the validity dates on their approved O visa, which shows a validity from 14 November to 11 February, despite applying for a travel period from January to March. Comments clarify that the visa allows entry into Thailand for 90 days starting from the date of entry, meaning the user can enter anytime within the visa's validity and will receive a 90-day stamp upon entry. The dates on the visa approval indicate the window in which the user must enter Thailand and do not directly correlate with their intended stay dates.

14 Nov-11 Feb is the length of time that your visa is valid for. If you enter Thailand on 10 February you’ll get stamped in for the proper amount of days if you try to enter Thailand on 12 February, your visa will have expired.

I got approved for a one year type OA visa multiple visits. Does that mean dates on approval letter are right? I'm not going for 45 days still....dates start Nov 13 th for 1 year

your visa validity date starts counting down the day it is issued. You have until Nov 13th 2026 to enter Thailand. Every entry will give you a 1 year permitted to stay stamp or until the date your health insurance expires. With planning you can get almost two years out of this visa.

thanks for clarifying

All visas is like a ticket to enter that said its not the same as a right to enter thats always up to thai imigration. Once u get the stamp u get a time frame depending on what kind of visa u paid for. But still not a right since u need to folow the rules regarding the individual visas to be able to stay in the country

Think of the o-visa being like a ticket to enter. You have 90 days to use it to enter Thailand. It's been used once you enter. Then you are stamped in for your actual permitted stay.

I wish mine had been approved. I submitted and paid for it on 25th October and I fly in 15 days time 😭.

I looked up the same thing. You have to apply closer to the date you leave so it's within your 90 days you'll be there. You can't apply now and go in a couple or a few months it'll expire

BS. You have 90 days to enter Thai when Non-O is issued.

You can enter Thai on day 89 and receive 90 day stamp.

the information Dennis has given you is wrong. Read the whole thread or you might miss out.
Alan *******
Thanks for that Stuart i will be making my first application soon and was shocked to hear that but its obviously when you hit your destination the 90 will start so i will book my ticket early then apply for the non o following

@Dennis *********
that's wrong - it clearly says "visa must be used by" and that's up to 3 months after it is issued and THEN he gets his 3 months permission to stay.
Stuart ******
@Dennis *********
that's not true. You have 3 months to use it and then get 3 months from day of entering Thailand. Read Brandon post above. Which is spot on.

All non-O visas are valid for 90 days from the day they are issued.

That means you have 90 days to enter Thailand. Once you enter Thailand, you'll receive a 90 day entry stamp. Even if you enter the last day the visa is valid, you'll receive a 90 day entry stamp.

- thank you so much for your clear, unambiguous answers. And sticking to the point.

just for sure, it means, you got non O visa for 90 days, and this will be counting from the date of your arrival in Thailand? Let me say, for example, I got the non o visa today. 16.Nov.2025. But this visa has 90 days validity. means, after 90 days from 16.Nov. so, visa validity will expire on 15.Feb 2026. ( 90 days) If I miss this date to arrive in Thailand, my non o visa is no more valid? another question, if I arrive at 14. Feb 2026, my non o visa is still valid (89 days) but can I get a stamp of 90 days? or just one day? Sorry but still not clear for me. Thanks

@Yo***
you have 90 days to arrive in Thailand from the day your visa is approved. Whether you arrive 1 day or 89 days after it is approved…you will then get stamped into Thailand for 90 days on arrival.brandon was really clear.
Brandon ************
@Yo***
if you arrive after 15 February then you cannot use the visa because it expired already.

As long as you enter while the visa is valid, you'll receive the full 90 day entry stamp that a non-O visa provides.
