Do I need to transfer my visa to my new Australian passport before leaving Thailand?
Help please: new Australian passport received from Embassy in BKK. Old passport clipped, with a stamp stating that all Visas in the old are valid for the new. Have to leave by 17 December, which I am. I have been informed that I just need to have both passports at the immigration counter when I leave. I have now been (I think, mis)informed by Koh Tao's leading travel shop that I have to go to immigration on Samui and have the Visa and stamp transferred into the new passport. Please tell me which is correct here? Thank you in advance.
Answer summary
An Australian citizen has received a new passport while in Thailand and is unsure if they need to transfer their visa from the old passport to the new one before exiting the country. They are aware that their visas remain valid in the new passport, but they've received conflicting advice about whether they must visit immigration for a visa transfer on Koh Samui.
