TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent experience shared about applying for a 60-day tourist visa at the Thai Embassy in Hanoi highlighted the requirement of providing three months of bank statements. Community comments stressed the importance of checking the embassy's website for specific visa requirements and noted that regulations may vary between locations. Further discussion revealed that cash is not accepted as a substitute for bank statements.
does not meet the specific requirements for the Visa as asked for by the Thai Embassy in Hanoi. If they want to see bank statements... then show them. Not cash.
no, they wanted 3 bank statements showing you've got the balance on hand. Now, that's just the Hanoi consulate, other places will vary.

Always CHECK the website of the thai consulate you're going to go to for your visa BEFORE you show up there to apply for one. The Embassys/Consulates have wide latitude as far as the requirements they ask for for the different visa types

if that's what's on their website then those are the requirements to get the visa issued from them ๐
and in checking their website it IS clearly posted under tourist visa requirements
showing that there's $850 in the account is one thing, having 3 months of bank statements is another. He was prepared with 1 bank statement. We didn't know we needed the money sitting there for 3 months.

HCMC is also scheduling appointments out about 6 weeks currently.
hubby was flying solo on this since I had to be back at work this morning. I don't think he pushed back simply because he has a hard time keeping those details straight...he left and messaged me for next steps.
we did carefully review the requirements. Unfortunately "evidence of bank balance" clearly meant something different to that particular officer. I shared the specific request for evidence they made in the hope that it would help others. We thought one month's bank statement would be sufficient to demonstrate adequate funds.
