Hi, I’d like to share my first experience of getting my stay extended on Non-O visa here.

The instruction sheet says rather simply : copy of 2 pages of the passport、proof of 800k baht in a Thai bank.

On the application form : photo 、TM6 (the digital arrival card) are also required.

Other than everything mentioned above, I also brought in :

printed E-Visa,

printed digital arrival card,

TM30,

housing contract,

landlord’s ID, as the owner of the condo,

blue book, the house deed,

bank passbook with the latest update,

the official statement from my Thai bank with the stamp from the bank.

( K-Bank charges 100 baht for that )

However, I was still asked to return on the next day for :

the official letter from my Thai bank,

( again, 100 baht for that )

and again, bank passbook with an update on that same day.

drawing of a simple map to show what roads、landmarks are nearby.

Because of that, I overstayed for one day, there is no grace period and I paid 500 baht for that.

Either at the immigration office or at major airports, you will need to pay 1,000 baht for single return entry, or 3,800 baht for multiple entries.

Even though no written instructions show all documents mentioned above are required, they took in all !

I’m glad it’s taken care of, the staff was helpful、I didn’t have to leave the country for overstay、didn’t need an agent because I want to see how things process. 😃

What a relief, now I can travel to other countries at will and hence today, I bought this cute mug from IKEA for my celebration. ☕️🎉

~PS. Brandon, how many times can an expat extend his stay on Non-O !? 🤔🙏🏻

I bought a BTS day pass until midnight ; but could only use it on the dark green、light green lines. ( pink line to the Government Complex stop isn’t included )

Hey Yaoyu, with the bank statement and passbook info you brought them, may I ask did you use the Wise app to transfer money initially, and was there any issue with immigration requesting that the deposits “show” they came from overseas? Was that an issue or a discussion with your extension or did they only seem to care that the money was seasoned in the account ? I’m assuming you had the 90 day non-O which you extended from? Thanks.

Interesting. I haven’t yet transferred the 800 to Thailand yet. Happy to hear you were successful with your extension

OP
Jumper25 It may take few days for international transfers, so do it as soon as you can ! I didn't transfer much over 800k as USD is weak for now. 🫡

It’s a red herring that the money has to show as an overseas transaction. But if you use wise yo Kasikorn it does anyway

OP
Jumper25 When I applied for an account with BNP Paribas in Paris, they even asked me if I rented an apartment back in the States, if yes, the signature of my old landlord would be required........talking about efficiency ! 😔

And the「 International Branch 」of Société Générale told me right on my face : We do Not accept American clients !........that was not what Napoleon said ! 😩
Yaoyu ***********
Yaoyu ***********
OP
Jumper25 Nope, they only checked the deposit of 800k to the day is at least 2 months and in between the balance is always beyond 800k. Because USD is weak for now, so I only keep my balance above that amount with a living budget of 3 months.

I use Schwab worldwide, they reimburse ATM fees without limits almost in every country.

Yes, Non-O.

I hope this answers. 😉

I am more interested in how someone having 800,000 in the bank is mentioning that the Bank is again charging 100 bht for paper 😂

OP
Sead Porovic Everytime I buy bubble tea or pop for security guys in my building, it's around 250 baht........when was your last time sharing food with strangers, Mr Rich !? 😎

I just tried to state in details, one fee for each document !

I don't carry much cash with me, a very useful hobby from having lived in Europe !

So having the cash handy for documents from banks always helps ! 😉

There was a bloke earlier who was so

‘principled’ he was willing to spend hours of his time changing bank accounts to save 100 baht.

He considered the charge ‘tax’. 🤣

I’m sure we advised him previously to check the documents required at his IO .Such as bank letter ,atm update on day and map

True but biggest mistake is not going to the IO and getting a full list of documents required

Ian Carman As said in my post, the list says nothing about bringing over the bank letter、housing contract、landlord's ID、blue book. 🫡😎

They want statement or letter from bank ? Is there Sky walk from bts station to building B or need to use taxi shuttle bus or walk?
Yaoyu ***********
Yaoyu ***********
OP
Petrov Petrov Yes, they require Both and official with the stamp from the bank !

You can take the free white shuttle from the entrance of the campus to Building B : 😃

I did see a white skywalk from the BTS station ; but have no idea if it leads into Building B. 🤔

OP
Andy Oswald When I first settled in Paris, at a supermarché, a woman walking with a crank in line dropped all her tomatoes at check-out. The cashier、everyone in 2 lines was expecting her to pick them up. I knew this would greatly slow down my check-out time if she has to do this on her own, no noble thought involved here at all, I picked up her tomatoes. Then she waited aside until I finish my check-out.

Holy then, she kissed all over both of my arms and insisted that I walk with her to her building across the road. She said she was from Belgium and never received help like this. I said to myself : What a poor woman, what did she go through here all the years !?

And then, I realized I was going through what she had gone through........😂

Stephen Howell yes, I agree. It just seems like if you miss an expiration date by 1 day because of a needed document that they could provide a little compassion. Not everyone is trying to overstay on purpose.

Richard Collins Bangkok Immigration allows 45 days before expiry to undertake an extension application. No time is lost through doing it so early. If you think a window of 45 days in insufficient, I'd suggest a serious rethink
Stephen ********

I'm just wondering why you would wait until the last day of your stamp to go into immigration? I always go at least a month before. You don't lose any time

Yaoyu ***********
OP
Stephen Howell That's exactly the first question I was asked at the site ! 😅

I spent too much time searching for an ideal condo, then opened a bank account and then waited for the international wire to come in.

And I kind of forgot the 90-day requirement because I was too busy hanging out in Bangkok, just like a tourist without a brain ! 😅
Jonathan ************

That depends where you live. Some provinces won’t process until the last day!

You can extend forever as long as you continue to meet the requirements.

And the pink line is not owned by the BTS company.

That’s confusing, I saw BTS signs at several pink line stations while walking from Government Complex to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat. 😅

even more confusing, the yellow line is owned by the MRT but run by BTS. It's all confusing and there's no reason they can't have a single payment card for all trains and buses in Bangkok like most major cities

Stephen Howell EMV you mean !? If you take MRT often enough, it would cost quite a fee on your credit card bill ! 🥲

All it would take would be for BTS to accept contactless payments the same way MRT and ARL does
