What documents are required for renewing a Non-Immigrant O visa in Thailand, and how many copies should I prepare?

Hi, today I went to Immigration Div 1 to renew extension of stay on Non Imm O (Thai wife) visa.

Some feedback, I had everything they required however Immigration wanted 2 copies each of the following: map of residence, photos of my wife and I, Passport personal information page, Kor2 and Marriage certificate.

I had one copy of everything plus originals but was surprised when a second copy was requested. Quality of the copies I had was fine. Everything was then accepted and I now have the 'under consideration' stamp.

So I suggest you have 2 copies of everything to be on the safe side.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When renewing a Non-Immigrant O visa at Immigration Division 1, it's advised to prepare two copies of each required document, including a map of your residence, photos of you and your spouse, the passport's personal information page, a Kor2 form, and the marriage certificate. Although one copy may sometimes suffice, having two copies is a safe practice as it aligns with standard immigration procedures, especially since documents often need to be sent to Bangkok for approval. It's also recommended to check your documents in advance and arrive early to facilitate a smoother process.

Thanks for your early advice Sir. I went to Chaeng Watthana immigration Div1 yesterday, prepared 2 copies each document, smooth process and will need to go to the office for the result on 29 July.

Was the place crowded? Did you have an appointment? Can you get a coffee? I go tomorrow.

The appointment website is currently down, so no appointments. At CW there are a few coffee shops on the first floor, but take-away. No seating.

I think the second copies are for the official that will visit the applicant's residence or office. In Thai it's called "เอกสารสำหรับนำสืบ". They put the list of required documents only on the counter but NOT on the website ☹️

Better prepare the second copies from home, If you don't want to pay for the expensive color photo copy at the immigration. 😅

Once again i think it depends what immigration office you have to visit. When i do it i make 3 copies of everything, so there is no problem. I also hand draw the map of how to get to immigration from my house. Never had a problem, but as i said it depends on the office.

This must have changed since April, as I have been going to CW for five years for my marriage extension, the most recent just last April, and they only wanted one copy of everything.

Don’t forget 2 copies of the letter from bank - they should know what it is. Here is copy of 1 immigration provided me as I had wrongly assumed 2 copies of bank statements would suffice

This country is so pathetic with the amount of paperwork needed for Immigration, Banks, etc. Does it make them feel so highly official?

, process was well managed and run by Immigration with all staff being helpful. Suggest you arrive early. There are banks in the building so you can update your bank book and get copies in the building. Good luck.

Yes 2 copies of everything required, I visit my immigration 2 weeks before renewal to get my paperwork checked and ask if they need anymore information before the due day.

It is worth the hassle but 1st year 6 visits to immigration 2nd year 4 visits this year hope for only 2 but who knows.

Two copies is normal for smaller immigration offices. They have to send a copy of everything to Bangkok for approval. I got a checklist from my office before applying and it clearly said two copies of everything.

you are correct. I just witnessed this myself last week. I was in our immigration office late in the day extending my visa. The applications get bundled up, one copy stays at the immigration office and the other is sent to Bangkok.
