Going over my checklist for one year extension of Non-O retirement visa in Chonburi/Pattaya.

Visa expires on 28 January but I'd like to apply on 16 or 19 January.

TM7 form (includes acknowledgement of penalties)

Passport photos

Copy of passport pages.

Copy of 1 year signed rental agreement

Copy of one year bank statement

Copy of bank book pages with same day update

Copy of TM30

Bank Letter certifying minimum baht requirement (I had no transfers since my last extension)

Am I missing anything? Please advise.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing to apply for a one-year extension for their Non-O retirement visa in Chonburi/Pattaya, and is seeking confirmation on whether they have all required documents. They plan to apply around the middle of January before their visa expires on January 28. The essential documents listed include the TM7 form, passport photos, copies of passport pages, a signed one-year rental agreement, bank statements and bank book pages, a TM30 form, and a bank letter verifying the minimum balance requirement. Several comments offer advice, such as ensuring the bank letter is dated the same day, possibly needing additional documents like a health insurance policy, and tips for the immigration process.

I think you have it covered but make sure the bank letter is dated the same day as application.

Hi Michael 1 comments, 3 quirks probably local immigration requirements (Issan) and 1 tip, I did mine yesterday.

Comment - You can renew up 45 days in advance mine was 42 days early today and the 12 months starts from the end date of your current visa date in your passport so today I got 1 year plus 42 days ie 26th Feb 2027 so nothing lost by renewing early.

2. Told to make a deposit of 100 baht on the application day, BEFORE requesting the letter and 12 months bank statement so that the bank book, letter and statements show same balance on the same day. Last year I had to leave immigration put in 100 baht before proceeding.

3. When I took my wife with me on previous years they made her provide a photocopy of her Thai ID (even though it’s a retirement visa). If she didn’t have it with her she had to go and get it before they would process it. This year she sat outside and it was not requested.

3. Was asked to pay 2000 baht today not 1900, clearly I didn’t question it.

Tip: on previous bank visits it’s always taken time to explain exactly what I needed, last year I took a photograph of the two completed request forms, took home blank ones. My wife filled in the details in Thai leaving the date fields blank, made several photocopies. This year just had to add in the dates fields (3 of them) ie today’s date on the top of the form and the start and end date for the bank statement. Today, no confusion handed in the 2 request forms, passport and bank book all done in 15 minutes.

Good luck for your renewal and hope it all goes to plan for you.

Only for stays based on a Non O-A visa. There's no requirement for stays based on a regular Non-O visa.

While they asked for the hand-drawn map in past years, they did not ask for it when I renewed last month.

since you were there in December. Is more casual but nice attire, like golf shorts and collar shirts acceptable in the Pattaya office.

Your visa is long gone, your extension stamped in your passport is what you are working to (as Jan pointed out, not everyting is a "visa") ;)

I believe it's possible to extend up to the day before your stamp date. 12 days I think is OK. If I'm missing something I do have all of next week to sort it out.

Recommend going to the immigration office and validate all documents they require, some offices ask for different items and often change

This is a "universal" handout from Jomtien from last month. It clearly covers both Non O applications made in country and one year extensions of stay, and everything is simply referred to as a “visa”. (That also helps explain why the same seasoning rules are applied across both cases).

go into the immigration office and ask for the requirement for 1y Extension of Stay for Retirement. They will give you the list of requirements as well as the application form. I go and ask for it every year, in case anything has changed.

The experiences they describe are often from different immigration offices and done at different times. For example, what they were told last March, may be different from what we're told now. If you provide everything listed on the requirements list they give you now, put them in the same order they are on the requirements list, and sign all copies before hand, it should be smooth sailing. It always has been for me.

I did that a few days ago. However not everyone's experience is the same. It should be.
