Question about helping my friend get a tourist visa to the UK from Thailand....... She has a good job in government, finances her daughter at university and has a property so would obviously be looking to return too her home in Thailand. UK immigration is tough, and as I would look after her in the UK, has anyone experience of exactly what documents one needs to support the 2 week visa?

I read I would need to write an invitation, maybe demonstrate (how?) I have enough money to support her living with me, but how much, and does the UK immigration need other proof, besides her return flight?

This would not be until next summer, but I would like to do my research now.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To support your friend's application for a UK tourist visa, she will need several documents to demonstrate her ties to Thailand and your ability to financially support her during her stay. Key documents include: a letter from her employer confirming her job and approved leave, proof of property ownership, travel insurance, a personal invitation letter from you detailing your support and the planned itinerary, along with your passport details. It's essential to show financial evidence, including bank statements, to prove that you can cover her living expenses in the UK. Additionally, demonstrating her connections to Thailand, such as family, property, and previous travel history, is crucial for her approval.

2 months it might be too much for tourist visa. She need to have money in her account to prove for your government even you said you would look after her. It is ot easy for this time now for us to visit UK. My friend got denying last month in the same reason and she need to show them like children, her job, or property she got and she need to come back Thailand. Lastly she need to buy travel insurance too.

We were just successful the second time around. You are going to need to prove a connection to your friend. The more the better.

How many times have you visited. We put in about 60 or 70 photographs of us together all over Thailand over a period of approx a year.

We also took screenshots of conversations over WhatsApp and messenger over the last year. She going to need to prove a connection to Thailand. They want to be sure she's going to go back.

Also her bank account has to be be able to explain every baht coming in and out.

We didn't explain 2000 baht coming into her bank the first time. That's the reason we were refused first time.

All the money has to show a source coming in. Over past 6 months.

If cash is going in, where is it coming from. Need to prove it.

I also had to show my bank statements last 6 months. I put 7 grand in a savings account and left it there for 6 months to show I could keep her. I went that route as I have multiple sources coming in to my accounts and didn't want to explain it that way. Too much hassle.

I also had to take pictures of every room in my house that she had access to. And take pictures of me standing outside my house. And inside.

Its a long arduous task to get the visa, don't mess up the money side of it. Its the main reason you will get rejected.

Suggest you start by reading the uk government website on what is required. You will apply for a 6 month visitor visa multi entry, that is the only visitor visa available for your friend. I actually never showed flights as I only bought them once she had the visa so having flights is not required for the application. You will need to show many things as part of the application, I.e. she will need a letter from her employer saying she has a job, her salary and that she has been given leave and show a leave and return date, stamped with her employers id. She will need to show her passport, copies of her bank account, if she owns her house then copy of house documents in her name, these all help to show she has a reason to return. You will need to show your passport details, and invitation letter saying you will financially support her and what your itinerary is during her stay i.e. to visit the uk and give some indication of where you will go like London etc.etc. also state the address she will stay at, yiu will also need to show your bank statements so they know you can afford to cover her costs (£~

per week) and a bill with your name if she is staying at your house to show you have somewhere for her to stay, the letter needs to state she will not be a burden on the uk finances because you will cover it. Also she needs travel insurance which you can show/upload . You will apply in either chiang mai or bangkok through the VFS and have a conversation and biometrics as part of the application. It will take upto 3 weeks for approval. Hope this starts you going

You will need to look at and follow the UK immigration site. Arduous but it lets you fill in all the required info including uploading the required documents. I did it last year for my girlfriend and we came to UK for 2 months. Get all your details listed and prepare the two files you have plenty of time and good luck

Agreed, make a careful note of every requirement and ensure that every one is addressed and has relevant documents attached and referenced to support each one no matter how small it may seem to you. You will be her financial sponsor so make this clear with adequate bank statement and include where you stay and where she will be staying.
