Hi Folks,

Thanks for having me :)

I'm looking into possibilities of having a friend from Thailand visit me here in England for a few months.

Does anybody have any current insights around possibilities for visas given the current situation? Would be a tourist visa and a four or five month visit.

I've been through the process before so understand the finance/support side a little, just wondering if it's pretty much a non-starter given covid etc.

Thanks for help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking information about the possibility of obtaining a tourist visa for a friend from Thailand to visit England for four to five months. They have some experience with the process but are concerned about current COVID-19 restrictions affecting travel. Responses suggest applying through the UK government website for a tourist visa, including necessary financial documentation, and highlight the importance of waiting until any red list restrictions are lifted.

That's what I was looking for I think, thanks for that. I was really unsure how the red list and covid generally was affecting visas.

Apply for a UK tourist visa on the gov.uk site. You will need to put in all their parents and kids details in full. Chuck in your bank statements showing you are financially sound, put all their bank statements in as well showing all sources of income. Any transfers from abroad such as via Western Union should be shown, print them out and submit them. If they work you will need to show wages into bank , working and paid in cash not accepted. All applicants have to have biometrics in Bangkok , you can turn up with them but they be by themselves at final submission.

Thanks. I've been through the process before but a few years ago, looks like not very much has changed but covid is having the final say at the moment.

I'll check the link later and see how much can be done now and then we will just have to wait and see how the red list develops.
