Not sure if this is the page. But I have a Thai girlfriend. I'm 56 she is 51 . She applied for UK visa and got it within 3 weeks.

I've heard lots of stories that it's failed for other people.

I think it's down to the person you want to invite.

My girlfriend has 3 properties a son that is graduating and has a good job.

Ties to having to go back to Thailand is important.

Without ties you may struggle to get your girlfriend here.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the factors impacting the success of UK visa applications for Thai partners. It emphasizes the importance of proving ties to Thailand, such as property ownership and stable employment, which can enhance the likelihood of visa approval. Multiple commenters share their experiences, noting that past travel history, age, and financial stability are critical in obtaining a visitor visa. Some mention the variability in outcomes even among seemingly strong applicants, suggesting a degree of luck in the process.

I had a position with the UK embassy in cambodia for years and owned a resort where I wouldn't allow farang with holiday gfs😂but the applications for gfs visas are mostly viewed as suspect ,a lot of the time rejection first time is just part of the process and if they have a interview it is pretty obvious spotting a paid for bar girl gf or a genuine couple ,and there are genuine couples but there in minority group when it comes to Asian girl farang couplings 🙏🏼

Good advice!

My Thai wife initially came to the UK on a Marriage Visa, that was 23 years ago!

😊

It can certainly help, the important things are that she can prove a need to return ( job being one) and sufficient financials to support her stay whether that’s evidence of your own to financially support her stay or better still financials from her.

My wife collected her visa on one occasion and there was a married couple we spoke with UK/Thai who were rejected on their previous application, they’d been together coming on 15 years and owned a small hotel in thailand for a number of years, I’d assume financials would be in order for them having the hotel for a few years, and that would certainly prove a need to return, so it’s important that the correct information with evidence is provided and verified before submission.

It's complete pot luck in our experinece. Her first visa wasn't an issue, the second & third visas got denied but was accepted after reapplying.
Christopher ***********
@เดแคลน **********
The resubmission contained exactly the same details?
เดแคลน ***********
@Christopher **********
yup, everything was the same. The best was the fact we had more reasons to come back on the 2nd and 3rd than we did 1st

Either they’re operating a quota system or the staff are incompetent (probably both).

For individuals with a genuine interest in pursuing a relationship with someone from Thailand, it may be prudent to explore the possibility of relocating to Thailand.

My wife has had 2 UK visitor visas so far. She has a massage shop that makes no money, doesn't have a house, parents are dead, grown up daughter, 6 cats, a motorbike and she spent 2 months in a Malaysian hell hole prison. I supply a 1 a4ź letter of invitation, which isn't a blow by blow account of a relationship like some of the frankly pathetic begging letters from so called company directors and the like that I have seen: keep to the facts. She does make sure she has 100,000 in her bank account a few weeks before and that her shop is properly registered as a business. We do use an agent to cross the ts and dot the i's.

Age is another factor.

No ties and young essentially equates to a high risk of coming for sex work.
Henry *********
UK Visitor visas are not too difficult to get as long as the applicant has a genuine reason to return and follows the guidelines.
Jack ********
Why take anyone out of Thailand to that dump?
Peter **********
@Jack *******
I live in Devon and my Thai girlfriend thinks it’s incredible. Not all of England is a dump , maybe just where you live is though.
Jack ********
@Peter *********
I would not live there. Is your girlfriend a Muslim? Maybe she will fit in
Peter **********
@Jack *******
Hardly any Muslims in Devon yet. You obviously have no clue about the UK.

Am travelling to Chaing Rai

For 1 month

I have 2 nights booked in hotel in Chaing Rai at the start and the end off trip

The rest off the time in my partner villa

Do I put the village address

Or do I only need to put the hotel I’m staying at for the digital entry card
Sylvia ********
@Peter *********
enter address for your first night. When in your partner villa she needs to report you to immigration TM30 form
Michael ********
Yes my wife never had no issues even before we were married, first time she went to UK she came for a weekend for my dads 70th. Met me in UK I was on ship and flew in from trinidad. But she has good job and properties

My gf tried 4x to get tourist visa to USA. All not approved ! She has job family and school. Still no. We may try to meet in Canada instead. Appears to be a waste of money to USA.
Christopher ***********
@Jack **********
Same here. Her Aunt has lived for decades in USA. She owns and runs a Thai restaurant in Texas. Application refused. She only tried once. Never again!
Bruce **********
@Christopher **********
Having family members living in The USA and owning a business may have killed her chances of a cvisa
Christopher ***********
@Bruce *********
We shall never know. Her sister got turned down for Australia and Netherlands (Schengen). However, when the Schengen Visa was resubmitted (with exactly the same details) it was granted. Government departments sure are arrogant as well as incompetent.
Jack ***********
@Christopher **********
Yeah. Not really fair. We called there and here. No response. It’s a waste of money since they take the app fee. We may try to meet in Canada. Hard to decide marriage without spending time together

might be useful information for incase you don’t want to have the hassle of getting a visa at all 🙏🏼
Hugh ***********
Bas **********
Simple; follow the requirements and you'll be ok
Bruce **********
The age of the applicant, history of travel and assets are important. Three weeks is not unusual. Congratulations 👍
Bruce **********
Also what she looks like does make a difference
Paul *******
@Bruce *********
my gf received hers last week. For the second time. Many people think that I'm some kind of "beast" because they wrongly assume that she's in her mid 20's. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I will say that we were very careful with the paperwork. Cross every t and dot every i.

@Paul ******
What other people think is their business and often reveals their true character.

only have to watch the news to ruin that fantasy
Paul ********
I think it has a lot to do with what she looks like!
David **********
@Paul *******
this actually makes sense. Not sure why people are butt hurt or offended.
Jason ********
@Paul *******
you never been the smartest kid around, and everytime you open your mouth it shows 😉
Gerg **********
Yes, it’s always been that way. An average Thai with no real ties to the country will usually not be allowed a tourist visa. Same for the U.S.
Jeff *********
@Paul *******
sorry but I’m 56, was married, no kids. That shit cracks me up 😂
Duncan **********
@Paul *******
probably how you look Paul is your problem lol
Anna *********
@Paul *******
did you really just say that Absolutely inappropriate and insulting response to a post trying to help others
Craig *******
@Anna ********
Appearance and presentation are very important. What's your problem.?

Paul ********

Anna *********
@Paul *******
thanks it is
Paul ********
@Anna ********
how is it inappropriate and insulting? Do tell
Anna *********
@Paul *******
visas are not approved based on looks (inappropriate as it’s not true) and you wouldn’t say that about a man (insulting) I am sure you will still think your comment is either true or funny, which it isn’t, but I will not bother to explain it any further You are obviously a dinosaur with a misogynistic attitude
Paul ********
sorry you feel that way, I knew a guy who worked at the Brit embassy, he told me that. They want to be sure she isn't going to 'work'.
