Is this the process? Applicant applies for DTV and after approval, he/she passes their visa details to spouse who applies under applicants visa reference? Both pay a fee each? Do both need to show a separate 500,000 Baht in their accounts?

And what about dependents? Are they covered under under the applicants visa? Is there a fee to pay for them too?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The applicant applies for a DTV visa and, after approval, shares their visa details with their spouse for application under the applicant's visa reference. Both individuals typically pay a separate fee. However, requirements regarding proof of funds can vary by consulate; some may only require the primary applicant to show the necessary funds, while others might require all applicants, including dependents, to demonstrate 500,000 Baht in their accounts. Regarding dependents, they may be covered under the applicant's visa, but this also depends on the specific consulate.

totally consulate dependent, some consulates only require the primary to have the funds, and there are reports from other consulates that required EVERYONE who was applying to meet the proof of funds (kids too)

what’s your view on my question about kids? Are they covered under the applicant and no fees required for them?

kids pay for the VISA just like adults, they don't get visas free, BUT whether you need to show proof of funds (500K baht) for each of them is consulate specific

understood. DTV becomes quite pricey when you have 4 kids!

Is it possible for applicant and spouse to enter on DTV and the kids enter on Visa on entry (I think you know where I am going with this)?

kids under 15 cannot be fined for overstay, kids under 18 cannot be banned

so yes you can bring 'em in visa exempt and let them overstay

do you think an airport immigration officer might think it looks a bit odd when the parents turn up with a DTV but the kids aren’t on it?

doubtful seeing as many many foreigners here on long term visa/extensions have their kids enter visa exempt and overstay.

I know some foreign kids on my Soi that are on multi YEAR overstays with no issue at all
