As a volunteer for many years you also need a work permit to go with that visa which can only be granted with paperwork from where you are volunteering. For extensions you need to provide photos and a mountain of paperwork as proof that in fact you are a volunteer. Immigration will also send out officers and the local police to check that in fact you are a volunteer. Most local immigration offices know where volunteers actually do volunteer. I would be careful

sadly you are almost completely mistaken :( :O

There are more than a few "agents/agencies" that you give your passport and a pile of money to for such a visa/extension.

They take it to a province you don't live in, to an immigration office you don't use, and get you a 90 day Non-O visa and then a year extension at a foundation you have no intention of volunteering at.

They are real stamps, from real immigration offices by real immigration officers and many MANY hundreds of people are jumping on the bandwagon to get them now that amnesty is running out :(

What are the negatives to these volunteer visas? Does any money actually go to the foundation?
