TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the process of applying for a new NON-B visa while changing jobs in Thailand. They seek clarification on whether they must leave the country for the new visa, especially since their previous NON-B visa was obtained without leaving. Comments indicate that one can apply for a new visa while in Thailand, but there are necessary steps to cancel the old work permit and extension of stay, along with potential consequences for not meeting requirements.

big thank you to
@Rob***
i think i finally got it....

If you have an Extension of Stay based on working you have to cancel this Extension of Stay at Immigration on same day as cancelling your WP. You can directly apply for new Extension, but if you can not meet the requirements you will get 7 days denied application to leave the country. Than you can apply for new Non B.

Depends on Employer, Ministry of Labor and Immigration Office.

How long does the process take though will 7-days be enough to get a new NON-B or WP processed..?
Robert *******
If you have the original Non Immigrant B visa and do border runs every 90 days, you don't need a new one.

If your new Employer can provide all the paperworks needed you can directly apply for NEW Extension of Stay, if he can no do this than your only option is to leave same day or apply for extension get it denied and get 7 days to leave the country.

You are now inside Thailand on an Extension of Stay based on working, the day you stop working your permitted to stay reason stops and therefor also this Extension of Stay, you should cancel this Extension of Stay.

firstly thank you for your time. Im sorry but Im confused.....what I want to know is:

1) Can I somehow stay in Thailand legally without having to exit the country for a new NON-B (if NON-B is required)

2) Will above give me enough time to get a work permit processed.

I was told (by a semi-untrustworthy source) that I should leave the country apply for NON-B come back and then apply for WP

Thanks a lot

a Visa or in your situation the Extension of Stay stamp in your passport allows you to be inside Thailand. The work permit allows you to work at mentioned employer and address in the booklet while inside of Thailand. Those are two total different things.

Robert I did sorry but I dont understand it....So basically I can skip the NON-B process if I meet the requirements and apply directly for WP?

The visa can only be used till the enter before/valid until date. If you do 90 days reports at Immigration you're on a Extension of Stay, read my other comment.

I dont do border runs -- the visa officer used to do 90 day reports for me at Changwattana. PS...The new job is in a new location if that is worth anything? Also Ive had the NON-b for 2-years doesnt it expire at some point?
