My plan is to visit the Chiang Mai immigration office in order to get my tourism Visa extension for another 30 days. The new Visa rules require a registration...
Can anyone tell me if a hostel booking from the 17th-18th will be enough, even though I'm visiting the immigration centre on the 19th in the morning? Do I need a printed copy of the registration or will the booking confirmation do? :-)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on obtaining a 30-day extension for a tourism visa at the Chiang Mai immigration office and asks whether a hostel booking for one night is sufficient, as well as if a printed registration is necessary. Comments shared indicate mixed requirements regarding the TM30 slip for the extension.
copied out of the answers: Tod Daniels Umm, Barry unless I'm wrong, it's one passport photo stuck to the filled out TM.7 form and copies of your passport data page, your visa or entry stamp & your TM.6 departure card :)
Chays William Brown wow, I wasn't aware of that :O I just googled around and read the reports that people had posted and none of them were saying they needed a TM.30 receipt :/
i see, yeah but in some cases its difficult if your extention time is near and the owner is not willing to register. Cant change places in a short period of time
It is NOT the same for bangkok :/ There are more than a few reports that IF you are staying at a private residence OR if the hotel you're staying at didn't register you that you have to go file a TM.30, pay the 800baht failure to file on time fine, get the TM30 receipt THEN go get your extension.
, at the chiang mai immigration office the latest reports is that they are NOT requiring a TM.30 for a 30 day extension on a 30 day visa exempt entry OR a 60 day tourist visa entry.
