Hello everyone, I’m currently in Thailand on a 60 day single entry tourist visa. Expires September 16th. I’m trying to figure out the current requirements for the 30 day extension. I might use the Bangkok immigration office. I might use the one in nonthaburi ? I’m not actually sure which one I’m supposed to use. Anyway my main question. Is a tm30 required for the 30 day extension nowadays? Any proof of stay required? I had a visa agent mention to me that this may be required but I have also heard the opposite. Any insight about the current requirements is appreciated. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on the requirements for a 30-day extension of their tourist visa in Thailand, specifically regarding the necessity of a TM30 form. Comments suggest that having a TM30 is generally advisable, as it determines which immigration office to visit, and while experiences vary, some users have required proof of TM30 documentation for the extension process. It is emphasized that extensions should be handled at the immigration office corresponding to the registered address.

You do not pick which office you use. You use the one that services the address you are staying at. If you are in a hotel ask them for a screenshot of the TM30 search showing they registered you.

I've extended many times. Always needed to have proof of TM30 at Bangkok

With the regular tourist visa it's a coin toss if they ask for TM30. You really should have one though, and if you do have one or you get one, it answers your question about which immigration office to use, as you have to use the one that services your TM30 address.

fair enough. Any idea how long it takes to process one?

your landlord, condo agent, or hotel should have filed one for you within 24 hours of moving in. Normally they submit online and can provide proof instantly with a screenshot from the system or the app. In Bangkok it's possible to self-file with your lease and some other paperwork, and they hand you the TM-30 on the spot. That's risky though as they'll probably charge you a fine for not having done it already.

The workaround is checking into a cheap hotel for a night or two and asking them for TM30 and using that at immigration.

Good info. I appreciate it. That work around is interesting. So the tm30 is just basically proof of current address? If I use the cheap hotel method they won’t inquire about where I’ve been the rest of my stay?

@Louis ******
usually they won't

so why the hesitation to have a TM30 filed? Curious.

no hesitation. Just spent my stay moving around a lot to be honest. Also wasn’t aware hotels were registering these for me.
