TLDR : Answer Summary
When filling out the TM 7 form for a non-O visa in Thailand, it is advised to use blue ink instead of black. While some offices may accept black ink, blue is considered the safest choice to avoid potential rejection. Many users have reported that Jomtien immigration specifically requires blue ink, as it helps in distinguishing original documents from copies. However, experiences may vary by location, with some individuals indicating acceptance of black ink in other areas.

I always type it, using the online TM7 word document and then print it. As a consequence it is completed in black and that has never been questioned. That is at Hua Hin immigration.

Back from Phuket Immigration, I was a little afraid they would not accept the forms filled with computer typing, so I filled them with handwriting blue ink. But then I met some fellow expats same age and saw that they had filled the form in advance by typing it but the fonts have to be blue. So thats accepted.

what you are saying makes complete sense and I know is true.

If you moved a few Km into Phetchaburi and needed to extend your stay in Cha Am you would need to fill in all forms by hand.

It's just another of the anomalies of living in this wonderful kingdom. 😊

Everything in Thailand is blue ink something to do with easier to see if a photocopy or not. If I was you I would re-do it it's not a long form.

Blue ink is the safest. Some offices will reject black ink and say it might be a copy. Some offices will accept black but some officers there will reject black. So the safest is to use blue that will be accepted every time.

just give yourself a few extra minutes when you go to the office to apply and fill in the form again then and there. Bring the ones you already filled out and just transcribe the information over. And don't tell the immigration officer that color copy machines exist and requiring blue ink doesn't actually accomplish anything 😜
