TLDR : Answer Summary
If you're traveling to Laos for your Non-B visa application and have a baby born in Thailand without a visa, you will need to obtain a visa for your baby to re-enter Thailand. As pointed out by community members, even infants require a visa when traveling in and out of Thailand, regardless of their birthplace. You should secure a tourist visa or a Non-O visa for your baby based on your visa application. It's essential to have your baby's passport ready for travel, as it is required along with a birth certificate for exiting Thailand.

Keep the baby at home. Traveling with a baby is a hassle and even worse, applying for a visa with a baby in hand is not a good idea at all. It will be far easier to do what you plan to do, on your own.

When my baby was born, I went to Laos to apply for a new visa on my own. I didn't bring my wife and son, because we deemed he was too young (being only 2 months old) and it would have been a hassle. Constant need for breastfeeding, mommy can't do anything but stay in the hotel room the whole time, what's the point, if it's just for a few days.

sadly for you (and the baby) that's not gonna work ๐Ÿ™

People with zimbabwe passports need to BUY a visa before they enter thailand (even zimbabwean babies born here)

So while your baby born here can indeed stay IN thailand, the minute you take them out they have to have a visa to get back in.

That means if you take them with you to Lao for your visa run you would have to get them either a single entry tourist visa (or a Non-O visa based on you getting a Non-B) before they could get back in to thailand..

Everybody in this world needs a passport and visa. For Laos you can do it at the border/airport (VOA) or online. Does your baby have a passport and visa to live in Thailand? Just being born here doesn't mean anything

Zimbabwe citizens most likely need to apply for a Lao visa in advance.

if they're born here they can stay without a passport / visa for a good number of years, they just can't LEAVE the country until they get a passport

What is your passport nation?

Being "African" means nothing regarding a Thai visa. What nationality the baby has matters.

Even a newborn has to do exactly the same as an adult to travel in/out Thailand. If nationality is eligible for visa-exempt, just travel with a passport. If a proper visa is required, your baby has to apply for at least a tourist visa to enter Thailand with you.

Of course, your baby needs a passport to leave Thailand. Get her/his passport first. The baby (by a parent) brings a passport and birth certificate to leave (birth certificate is required as the passport has no entry stamp for the baby). Then get a proper visa with yours if required or enter Thailand on visa-exempt if eligible.
