Undoubtedly a very well known answer to this... But a new situation for me and I'm having difficulty finding information on line - not least because Google Translate is awful at Laos..

I would like to have two close friends, married couple, Laos nationality, visit me at my Thai home. They have passports and have routinely visited Thailand using those passports. But they have a new baby, now 6 1/2 months old. Thus far, the baby has neither ID card nor passport, nor is noted on his Mother's passport.

Am I right in thinking that the baby needs his own passport in order to visit Thailand with his parents?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, every foreigner, including newborns, is required to have their own passport to visit Thailand with their parents. This means that the baby needs to obtain a passport before traveling.
Ellie *******
Every single foreigner including newborns needs their own passport to visit Thailand properly, such as visiting your home.
