I have a Non O extension of stay (based on having a Thai child).
I have had a work permit without issue for the last 2 years.
A potential new job advises I have to leave the country to change my Non O extension of stay to a Non B to be able to work for them. The employer is in a different province.
Can anyone clarify if i absolutely have to leave to country? Surely I should just be able to continue working with the Non O?
Many thanks and apologies if I have the terminology incorrect.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster holds a Non O extension based on having a Thai child and has been working under a valid work permit. They are considering a new job that requires them to switch to a Non B visa. However, several comments clarify that it is possible to obtain a new work permit without leaving the country, using the existing Non O extension. Experts in the discussion suggest that the employer might be misinformed about the visa regulations and that there's no necessity to switch visas if the current extension allows for employment.
