Guys! I got a work permit running up to March 2018 but I’m planning on moving to another school ...just wondering if it’s possible for me to move to another school without difficulties or will I have to exit the country for another nonb visa 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the process of transferring to a new school in Thailand while managing a work permit and visa. Although it is theoretically possible to switch schools without exiting the country, it requires strict coordination between the old and new employers, and all cancellations and applications must occur on the same day. If the process is not handled correctly, the individual may need to exit Thailand and reapply for a new Non-B visa, typically after canceling the current visa and work permit.

yes it can be done but only on the same working day.

is correct it will take coordination with your old employer and new employer. The date on the cancellation of your work permit must be the same day as your application for the new visa and work permit...(,it cannot be any other date, no excuse is acceptable). All transactions MUST occur on the same working day. If you have to travel any distance you must make sure you have enough time between cancellation and renewal.

Step 1 cancel work permit the document they give you must show work finished that day.

Step 2 Cancel Non B Visa.

Step 3 Apply for new work permit with all necessary documents. Get receipt.

Step 4 apply for new Non B Visa.

I cannot stress all dates must be correct plus all paperwork. If not you must leave the country.

I did this in May this year. It was only possible because my new ad old college personnel staff coordinated the whole process and it worked correctly. Consider the time it will take you to travel between the Labour and immigration offices at each location and how much time it takes you to travel between old and new locations.

, it is in theory possible to go cancel your work permit, apply for the new work permit, go cancel your current extension and immediately apply for a new extension. However I have never seen anyone pull it off because it takes incredible coordination between your old and new company.

If you are on an extension, most people cancel the work pernit, go cancel the extension, exit the country and either come back on a visa exempt or tourist visa entry until the new company gets the documents ready to get a new Non-B visa either at the immigration office or at a thai consulate

Hi tod thanks for the info...

It depends. If you are in Thailand on a Visa (Sticker from Embassy or Consulate) you only cancel the WP and apply with the new school for a new one. If you are on an Extension Of Stay (stamp from Immigration) based on your working permit than you have to cancel the WP first, same day cancel your Extension Of Stay at Immigration and leave the country to obtain a new Visa. And start the process again.

Let us know the outcome.

Is it possible for me to cancel the extension and on the same date get another extension without exiting the country???

You have to start from the scratch again as a new and you also have to be cancel the old one before apply for the new.

You must cancel the work permit and visa then reapply for both in the normal way...
