Hello teachers , I need some advice please what is the process of possibly changing your work permit with one school to another school to avoid the non b Laos process all over again. I’m having salary issues with my current agent in which she owes me 30k baht. So I’m considering what are my options.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To change your work permit from one school to another, you need to first terminate your contract with your current employer and cancel your Work Permit at the Ministry of Labor on your last working day. If you are on a Non B Visa with an extension, you may not need to cancel anything if you are still within the initial 90 days. If you possess an extension, both your current and future employers need to cooperate to facilitate the transfer of your Work Permit.

1. Do you have a visa or extension of stay?

2. If you have a visa, is it a non-b?

If you have a tourist visa/ visa exampt, you have no options. Just leave.

If you have a non-b, but no extension, and the entry stamp has not expired, walk away from your job, and look for another one.

If you have an extension of stay, listen to Tods advice, and hope for the best.

In re-reading it I see it WAS somewhat "visa related"

This is how it is, IF you are still on the original 90 day entry from a Non-B visa AND the visa has the name of the company written on the sticker at all you can't change it. :O

You need to get paperwork and go to a thai consulate and get a NEW 90 day Non-B visa

BUT

IF you are actually on an extension that you got from the immigration office on your original Non-B you CAN cancel the extension you're on and immediately apply for a new extension from the other company.

It takes BOTH companies working together to get you the required documentation so it can be done at the same time. I have only seen it actually work out a handful of times out of many many hundreds of people I know who wanted to do it.

unfortunately to ME this doesn't sound in the least like a thai VISA question at all..

Sorry about that

i hope i'm allowed to answer as a non teacher.

If not, let me know and i will delete all.

Process is to make a letter of termination of your contract and send this to your employer, be aware of the conditions in your contract.

Visit the Ministry of Labor with a copy of this letter and cancel your Work Permit on the last day that you will work for this school.

With the document of that ministry and the copy of the letter visit the Immigration Office and cancel, if you have, your Extension of Stay based on working on the last day that you work for this school.

If you are inside Thailand on the initial 90 days of your Non Immigrant B visa, no need to visit Immigration to cancel anything.
