Does leaving Thailand reset my 90-day check-in requirement for a retirement visa?

Silly question perhaps, but . . . When I acquire my retirement visa, 90 day check-ins with immigration. If I leave Thailand one month after my 90-day check-in and go to US for four months, I would miss a 90-day check in. I am hoping that once I reenter Thailand (with tentry permit) that would start the next 90-day check-in. Is that the case? The exit would stop the 90-day clock? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
When you hold a retirement visa in Thailand, the 90-day check-in requirement is based on your consecutive days in the country. If you leave Thailand after your check-in, the clock stops and will restart upon your re-entry. Thus, you do not need to check in while you are outside of Thailand, as the requirement is only for the days spent within the country.

They will likely cut off a hand if you miss a check-in, especially if you're in another country.

Check-ins are for 90 days in the country. If you leave, you are not in the country. The last I knew (things may have changed), you do check-in when you return..

The exit stops the clock. And re-entry starts the clock. If you leave within every 90 days, you never need to report

It's not a 90 day check-in. It's a check-in for 90 consecutive days in Thailand. If you're not in Thailand for 90 days then you don't do any checkin. When you come back the timer starts over because it's only 90 consecutive days in Thailand

I think you need this response pinned since it is asked so frequently. I realize the search function is not always reliable.

It is written, in English, at the top of the TM47 form exactly what it is.

yes, I am using it, yiu seem to be missing the point of this group

it varies by individual. Some are just insecure and want reassurance. My biggest gripe is that the 90 day report is not necessary in my view.

@Ken **********
In my case I have an LTR so no 90 day reports.
Ken ***********
@Marty ********
so if LTR do not require 90 day reporting, why should others ?

@Ken **********
I have to do 1 year reporting. I don’t make the rules.

Not neccesary totally agree hopefully this DTV visa as there is no real way to enforce the 90 day check. We can only hope they cancel it and stop wasting ours and there time & resources
