What are the requirements for submitting a TM30 in Thailand for returning expats?

Just been told for the first time in 11 years at immigration that every time my wife and I return to Thailand from abroad she needs to submit a TM30. (I live in her house). Does this mean she has to physically schlep all the way to immigration with it or can she a) post it b) do it online c) sort it out when we arrive at Suvarnabhumi? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When returning to Thailand, your wife must submit a TM30 form, which can be complicated by varying local immigration office requirements. While some offices may accept the form online or may not require it if there are no new TM6 landing cards, others might want it submitted physically upon return. It's suggested that your wife register for an online account to file the TM30 electronically and keep a record of the submission as proof. For specific guidance, it's best to check directly with your local immigration office to understand their exact requirements.

and as people posted this is everything we know about the TM.30 process.

IF you have more questions you need to "schlep" on over to the immigration office and ask them how they want it done at that office ;)

Safer for wife to get the online account (or App) and apply every time you return to her address from wherever. If she does this then get a screenshot once complete as it acts like your receipt.

Some IM offices don’t require a TM30 unless there’s a new TM6 landing card but others want it every time and they change their minds at will. Chiang Mai, I’ve been told by them in the past, only requires to update with the new TM6 number. Chiang Rai, on the other hand, want TM30 if going outside the province. Check with your local IM office to be sure.

Your wife can register online account and report online for you every time required..

This may be a stupid question but if my wife (in whose house I live) files a TM 30 within 24 hours of returning to Thailand from abroad, is that it till we go abroad again? Do I need to submit a TM 30 when I go to extend my retirement visa between trips?

I do not think you need to refile when you go to extend as long as the info they have on file is up-to-date i.e. passportatch, address match and TM6 departure card number match. If something is not right you will need to fix it and possibly pay a fine before they will give you the extension. As one of the other posters mentioned you might need to refile if you stay in a hotel for the weekend. If that hotel does file for you, that address would replace your permanent address and you would want to refile.

Ian Leonard Hollingworth Depends on your reporting office. I live down south and since 3 month ago I have to report every time I leave my province and check into a hotel there and when I return I must report.

Here's everything you need to know about TM30
