Hi all

I’m living in Brisbane at the moment with my 14 year old daughter her mother and my wife is still in Thailand.

I want to send her back to Thailand in April for a holiday for a month to stay with her mother. She will be traveling alone has both Australian and Thai passport transiting through Singapore.

What does she need to do to get into Thailand. All help much appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user wishes to send their 14-year-old daughter, who holds both Australian and Thai passports, back to Thailand for a month in April. Concerns were raised about the challenges of her traveling alone, especially considering potential COVID-19 regulations, the need for quarantine, age restrictions with airlines, and the necessity for her mother to meet her upon arrival. Various commenters provided insights into current regulations, airline policies regarding unaccompanied minors, and safety considerations, suggesting that precautions should be taken due to the ongoing pandemic and recommending postponement of travel plans.

Not a good idea. Postpone this plan for now.

Yes I agree with all the unrest and uncertainty, I will delay and hopefully the future will be safer and brighter. Thanks everyone for your input.

Not safe in so many ways:

Covid

Alone

Dual citizen

Female

Dual citizen = no problem.

It's Covid and all the rules that make it an issue as well as her age (small issue).

Wait until end of March and see what’s happening then, you can’t plan a week ahead at the moment let alone

months

I'm in Phuket sandbox and literally planned it a week in advance. (but not two weeks in advance)

I’ll tell you in 24 hours when I get my second pcr result 😅

But the goal was to just fly in country and head out to bkk which is sort of homebase, so it is what it is.

She can fly with Singapore airlines I have already checked, Idont know about the quarantine rules in Bangkok about a 14yr old staying in hotel quarantine in Bangkok before her mother picking her up.

Very few airlines will let her fly alone, she will need double vaccination, assuming sandbox is still on, her mother may need to stay with her in the hotel because hotel don't let minors check in alone, this then makes your sandbox application complicated. It can all be done but you will need to keep in mind there are lots of obstacles

My friends kids travelled all over at a younger age than 14. Most airlines have special arrangements for minors travelling alone. Escorted from check in to the plane. Sat close to hosties and never next to a man.

- that is not correct. She is not considered a ‘minor’ by airline standards.

Hotel - yes, fully agree

my friend daughter 14, refused by 3 Airlines, not every airline the same so I think am right from experiences

Under 12 is the age limit for unaccompanied minor.

How does a 14 year young Thai child enter Thailand unaccompanied?

And what ASQ quarantine will she be placed in?

Or are you assuming her Mother will meet her at a Phuket sandbox hotel where at age 14 an unaccompanied minor is allowed to check in ?

And at this time, which airline from the AU will accept a minor age 14 to travel to Thailand?

There is a destination contact address. Phone number, contact, follow the rules of the Thai government. You can come. Thai people are kind and happy to help.

Not easy, and if she would test positive for covid, much more difficult and costly. Really not a good time, unfortunately for your family.

@Ang ****
maybe u know better but for unaccompanied minors who may need medical consent for Covid test - I would not feel as confident as you are ..
Ang *****
@Kuan *****
test in SG? As a transit passenger why would she?

In Thailand - she will be met by her mother - her guardian.
Paul *******
@Ang ****
She can't be met by her mother as even under test and go, a one day quarantine is required. No one has been allowed to pick up international passengers since April 4, 2020.

She's Thai, if she tested positive it wouldn't cost her a thing...

@Janin *****
agree .. Singapore protocol is getting strict
Ang *****
@Kuan *****
as a transit passenger SG protocols aren’t of concern. You are out of date with your information as SG has relaxed the stricter rules of the omnicrom variant.
