I am arriving May 10 on Air India with a one way ticket. Will the airline or IO require a ticket for an onward flight out of Thailand? I have a US passport and anticipate getting a Tourist Visa from the embassy. I will be applying for a non-O visa when I get there. Any recommendations for a visa service to help me get this visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether an onward flight ticket is necessary when arriving in Thailand on a one-way ticket with a US passport, as they plan to apply for a Tourist Visa and a NON-O visa once there. The comments highlight that while immigration may not require it, airlines often do, and there have been instances where travelers were denied boarding without a return or onward ticket. It is also suggested that obtaining the non-O visa beforehand could eliminate the need for an onward ticket.

Air India highly likely you will have problem at check in. Happened to two friends earlier this year and they had to quickly buy some budget tickets out of country. Cheaper you get an onward travel ticket now.
Rarely would immigration ask - unless you have a long history of entries and they’re looking for a way to deny you entry.
Your airline will be the hiccup if any. Many will not let you board without a ticket out within the initial number of days allowed. Regardless that you could possibly get an extension or other visa to allow you to stay longer.
You may be lucky and they don’t. But it’s coin toss.
