Hello all, my partner and I are currently in Thailand with plans to visit Laos and Vietnam in the next couple months. My partner is an Argentine who has been granted a 90 day visa on arrival. We think we would like to come back to Thailand after visiting Vietnam. If she has only used 30 days of the visa will the other 60 days carry over if we decide to come back or will she need another visa? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about their Argentine partner's ability to return to Thailand after traveling to Laos and Vietnam, specifically concerning the 90-day visa on arrival. A user commented that the partner actually received a visa waiver, meaning the 90 days do not carry over and a re-entry would allow her to receive another 90-day stamp as long as she doesn't exceed the total of 90 days in a 6-month period.

nope, doesn't work that way

and

she didn't get a 90 day visa on arrival ๐Ÿ˜ฎ , she got a free 90 day visa waiver entry. She'll get another one when she flies back in from Vietnam.

@Tod ********
wow envious of those countries waivers. Wonder why so kind on the number of days versus say Canada at 30?

@Kevin ********
those countries all have reciprocal agreements where thaiz get in for 90 days in their country so people from those countries get in for 90 days here
James ********
Tod Daniels is correct...

she is from one of the 5 countries (Argentina, Brazil Chile Peru & South Korea) whose citizens get in to thailand for free for 90 days on what's called a "visa waiver entry".

it says here that visa exemption for South Korea temporarily suspended

It's wrong ๐Ÿ˜ฎ which is rare because as a rule that wiki page is the GO TO place to get who can get in for what info ๐Ÿ˜›

They went back to giving 90 day visa waiver to Koreans in April

Thanx go to Duke Language School and their admi

am for that current info (y)

@Anatoly **********
the 90 day entries were suspended for Koreans when Korea stopped letting thaiz in for 90 days ๐Ÿ˜ฎ and it was reduced to 30 days,

but

I heard it was back to 90 and am just checking with a language school to see if it's back to 90 or not.

Will report back..

is it really max 90 days in 6 months though per Lloyd's comment above? I've have never heard of this limit before.

Argies are still getting 90 days after 90 days after 90 days. Every now and again a custom officer will ask for an onwards ticket and a few got declined right before COVID as they had been living here for years. As for right now every case I know is entering and doing border runs without issues

that I cannot say ๐Ÿ˜•

I personally know koreans who practically LIVED here (some for several years) on those 90 day visa waiver stamps by flying out and back in.

I think as she's not staying the full 90 she won't have any issues really,
@ John ********
r it wouldn't hurt for her to have proof of onward travel when she comes back to thailand from vietnam to show she's not going to "live" here on 90 day stamps ๐Ÿ˜›
Lloyd ********
She will be stamped in for 90 days every time she enters, but she can only spend a maximum of 90 days in Thailand in any 6 month period
Lloyd ********
@Alex ******
That IS the rule for people from Argentina using this method of entry.
Lloyd ********
@Alex ******
Thats what I read on the page I looked at

I'm from Argentina and I don't know of a single case that weren't able to do a visa run and stay for another 90 days after being a few days away. The ones that got declined were living in the country illegally.
