Update on my post regarding DTV for spouse in Jakarta

I emailed the embassy and here are the info I got confirmed regarding proof of funds and application for dependents

(Note: as our kids are still young we will get them in on visa exemption and let them overstay)

My husband needs to show proof of 500k TBH only once for the both of us

He does not need an appointment

And can submit both our applications at the same time

And I don’t need to physically go there which allows me to stay on Bali with the kids

I will update when we went through the process

Thanks everyone for all the info in here

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user provided an update on the DTV visa application process for dependents in Jakarta, confirming that only one proof of 500,000 THB is needed for both spouses and that applications can be submitted simultaneously without the need for an appointment. The user will remain in Bali with the children while the husband applies. Various community comments explore additional requirements, document specifics, and the overall ease of the DTV application process at the Jakarta embassy.

Hey Florence, thanks for the info..Question I already have the DTV- I’m going to Jakarta to add my husband and 16yo son. So does that mean I can leave my son at home in Thailand and apply for him in Jakarta?

My Boyfriend is looking to apply DTV visa for medical treatment. Is it possible to advise me whether it is available in Jakarta? Can you give me their email to ask? Thanks.

hubby is going on Monday supposedly. He is struggling a bit with the muay thai schools on Koh Lanta to get his letter. Will update hopefully next Thursday 🙌🏼

Good to know 👍🏼 does that mean that he has your passport in Jakarta while you stay in Bali?

Asking because our situation is *very* similar. Three small kids (will overstay), wife doesn’t want to be in Jakarta (would rather be in Bali or KL) etc.

Worried that if I take her passport to Jakarta, but they need her for something, then she’ll be unable to travel to me.

he will take my passport while I stay on Bali with the kids yes.

I would have your wife stay in Indonesia. Your spouse is a dependent to your visa. If they need extra info they will need you not her. But I would stay in the same country so if there needs to be a domestic flight taken maybe something could be arranged but again they should not need her.

Do you mind if I ask what country are you from? If I am Canadian can I go to Jakarta to apply for DTV? Thank you

we are europeans. We are residing on Bali rn that’s why we go to Jakarta. If you are in Indonesia when you need to apply for the visa then you can.

Thanks for the update. So just to confirm... you as the wife can't be granted the DTV on your husband's application? You need to apply as well? I thought the wife or spouse was included in the DTV.

And did your husband just walk into the embassy? Then wait 3 business days?

Thanks in advance.

@David *****
any spouse needs to apply separately and pay 10k THB but need to be linked to the main DTV (in our case my husband’s)

We still need to go and apply but the embassy confirmed via email that you can walk in and that it takes 3 days. Will update when gone through the process
David ******
Thank you. Appreciate the details! Good luck, and we might follow in your footpath and go to Jakarta as well.

DTV VISA APPROVED

Very easy process I highly recommend the Thai embassy in Jakarta Indonesia.

It's walk in no appointment need. Must go (Monday to Thursday)

I applied for soft visa Muay Thai. I went to this gym. (I paid for 3 months)

***************************************************************************

Documents required

Application

Passport

Bank statement (I provided 1 month)

2 photographs

Muay Thai acceptance letter from the school

It takes 3 business days. The embassy was empty no waiting in line.

Christopher *********
@Ha**
yes you get 5 years. I think I paid 6000 baht

we will be arriving end of October for 6 months. May I ask why you are asking?

@Florence ***********
ah okay. I am planning for a visit on hence, thinking since you're in Bali, you might visit soon
Patrick ********
You dont need to show up at the Jakarta embassy ? How does the process work ?
Florence ************

@Patrick *******
you do for the main applicant but not necessarily for the spouse/dependent.

My husband will have my application form plus photos and proof of relationship and passport with him.

Thank you for your information is there any addition documents needed like business licence of freelancer documents for digital nomad or just bank statement with 500k bath
Thomas ********
Also, any requirement for how long the money needs to have been in an account?
Manuel *********
@Thomas *******
there was a post today that a guy ask the immigration on Samui they stated every time you extend it you need to show the 500k again
Thomas ********
@Manuel ********
that’s fine. I’m just dreading the idea of being denied because I moved money into my bank account less than 3 months before applying.
Henrik *****
Only the Embassy where you will apply, can give the right answer about that, since it differs from Embassy to Embassy.
Karel *********
@Thomas *******
Says balance no 6 months history. they should only care for liquidity
Thomas ********
@Karel ********
I hope that’s the case! So many other embassies are requiring 3-6 months in the account.

@Thomas *******
here what is on their website site

Bank statement showing ending balance at least THB 500,000 or equivalent in other currencies
Thomas ********
Once you get approved, will you have to leave the country again, or how will your visa get recognized by the immigration officers?
Florence ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Thomas *******
sorry I don’t understand your question. All DTV has to be done outside of Thailand.
Thomas ********
@Florence ***********
my fault! Not sure why I read your post as you guys already being in Thailand (and your husband traveling to Jakarta). As someone with young kids at home, thanks for the post!

it’s ok. We are on bali rn but the embassy in Denpasar doesn’t take care of visas applications. Only Jakarta.

The RTE in Jakarta is so DTV-friendly.😊
