I'm hoping for some 100% confirmation as I've twice now been to immigration and been told different.

I'm on a Non immigration O visa (Thai wife). The last few years I did the 400k in the bank but this time I changed to the monthly salary. When I visited CW last Tuesday they said I needed numerous documents (shareholder list BOJ5) etc etc.....so today I returned and was told "no, your employer is registered in Hua hin so you'll have to go to that immigration office" (even though I live in Bangkok)

As my current extension of stay expires on June 11th what the immigration officer suggested is to put 400k in my bank, get an additional 60 days visa from CW and then I can do it the old way. I'm not sure if this is correct as I was told the salary way would be fine if I got all the necessary docs and today the goalposts changed.
Summary so far
The user is experiencing confusion regarding the requirements for extending their Non-Immigration O Visa based on monthly salary versus a bank balance. They recently switched to the salary method but received conflicting information at immigration regarding necessary documents and the immigration office to which they must apply. While they were advised to revert to using a bank balance of 400,000 THB, the conversation highlights potential complexities and inconsistencies in immigration processes in Thailand. The community comments suggest varying opinions on whether to pursue the salary option or stick with the bank balance method, with some recommending using an agent to avoid complications.

In the past it has been so abused by foreigners that they require legitimate documentation now to prove it.

Dont make it harder for yourself, 400k in bank, take photos, follow the instructions

They didnt change any rule, the 65k route for income inside thailand always needed submission at where the work location is, I.e. from what you mentioned it is not Bangkok. It also always needed additional documentation to make sure that its no a ghost employment. May be they were not enforcing it consistently before, but now all visa related aspects are tightening

Ain’t no rules in Thailand

…….only ‘suggestions’

There is no guarantee on anything here, even when you follow the ‘printed’ rules.

Pretty sad really

If you go that route of monthly income, you have to do it at immigration office where your company is located. 400K method might be easier for you if you want yo do in Bangkok.

Why worry about the 400,000 in your bank if working as you said salary

OP
Graeme Drake the last 6 years I've been doing the 400k option, last year I worked for 12 months and made some investments with my savings so decided this year I'll choose the salary option. They told me on Tuesday what I needed to change to that option only for today to change the stipulations again.

So now I'm half expecting to apply to get a 60 days extension and be told something different from what I was told today

OP
Brent Rothsay nope, I'm not paying someone to do what I can do and have for most of the last 16 years. If we keep contributing to "tea money" it's never going to stop.

We were told at CW also that the 65K monthly income route requires a lot of documents from your employer, tax papers, etc. They seem to not wanting you to go that route.

If you've not previously used the 60 day visiting Thai family extension you can indeed use that to gain the time to let your money season for the extension

They're lazy. It's more work for them supposedly or they want 'tea money'. Less hassle to just stick with the 400k. Every office has different requirements but easy is always best. They're always adding bs requirements to the 65k income method that it makes it not worth the hassle. I personally stick to the lump some just to not deal with the BS.

The easiest way is ฿400k in a bank account that is forgotten about

You added extra steps to your situation…only you can tell yourself

Is it worth it or not

Good luck
