Hi we are due into BK from HK on 13th January, we live in Chiang mai where we have a long term rental contract. If we are prevented in returning to CM after quarantine in BK can I obtain a first OA retirement extension in BK(we have all necessary docs ‘requirements )., even though I’m not resident in bk (ie short term hotel or such )

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they can apply for a first OA retirement extension in Bangkok after their quarantine, despite not being a resident there but having a long-term rental contract in Chiang Mai. Responses indicate that as long as they have the necessary financial documents, mandatory insurance from approved companies, and proof of residence (such as a TM30 receipt), they may be able to apply in Bangkok if they cannot return to Chiang Mai.

As you're not even here yet, no one knows what the inter-province travel will be once you do get here and once you do get out of quarantine.

Watch the news, see what's what and play it by ear.

As long as you can meet the financial requirements AND the mandatory insurance requirements (from one of the 15 thai insurance companies required for O-A insurance) AND prove you "reside" in the area where you're applying (by showing a TM30 receipt) you should be able to apply in Bangkok for the yearly extension IF you can't make it up to Chiang Mai.

and this was exactly why I tried to message you before I approved the post :( I wanted to avoid giving you bad info and GET more information on what it is you were really entering on.

So lets clear this up.

The original O-A visa is expired now, correct? AND you are on a second year stamp from it (and bought a re-entry permit before you left) right?.

When you enter you'll get stamped in until the expiration date of your old stamp which is the 26th of Feb.

Then you'll be applying for the first yearly extension in country.

I doubt it. But why wouldn't you be able to go to CM? There are currently no travel restrictions within Thailand.
