Hello Non-o visa based on Thai child advice needed.

Living and working in Thailand 4 years on work permit as teacher but will need to study soon for 1- 1.5 years to get a permanent teacher visa. So Iโ€™m considering other options.

1. As a female trying to obtain non-o based on Thai child visa do I still need to show proof off 400k in the bank?

2. Can I still work on this type of visa?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-O visa based on raising a Thai child requires proof of funds, typically 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account or a monthly salary of at least 40,000 baht. This requirement applies regardless of gender. However, if married to a Thai national, the financial proof may not be necessary. Holders of this visa can also work in Thailand.

if you are getting a yearly extension based on raising a thai child you WOULD need to meet the proof of funds of 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only OR proof of 40K baht a month in salary by legally working here with a work permit.

It's only the "married to a thai" extension where a foreign female married to a thai male has no requirement to show proof of funds. For raising children you still do show the funds

Are you married to the childs father? If so, there are no financial requirements to get a non-O extension based on marriage to a Thai, as a female.

thank you for your reply - Iโ€™m not married to him. However if we were to marry as like mentioned above, would he then need to supply financial info?

I dont believe so no. No monetary requirements, for a foreign female married to a Thai male, to get yearly extensions.

Just so you are aware, there is no "permanent teacher visa", I think you may be referring to a teacher's licence, which is totally different and required to work in OBEC schools once you run out of waivers.

Visa/extension based on raising half Thai child requires parent proof of funds. Male or female doesn't matter. As a parent to support a child, you need to prove your financial situation.

And you can hold a work permit with those visa/extensions.

A female foreigner doesn't have to have funds by herself when you are married to a Thai male who can prove the support for his wife. (regarding being a family member of a Thai national)
