What are the requirements and experiences for applying for a DTV visa in Thailand?

Hey guys 👋

I’ve got a few questions about the DTV visa, hope someone here can share some experience:

A bit of context:

I’m currently in Thailand, and my visa will expire in the middle of next month.

I plan to go abroad to apply for a DTV visa, but right now I only have 3 months of bank statements available.

1 Embassy on the invitation letter

Does the “soft power” invitation letter actually say which Thai embassy you have to apply at?

When I applied, I told my Muay Thai organization I’d do it in Vietnam, but now I’m thinking of going to the Thai Embassy in Laos instead.

Would that be okay, or could it cause issues since the gym already submitted my documents for Vietnam?

2 Applying at a different embassy

I haven’t applied yet, but I’m wondering if anyone has experience switching embassies — like planning to apply in Ho Chi Minh City but later going to another one (e.g. Hanoi or another country) using the same invitation letter.

Is that allowed?

3 Bank statement / financial proof (Vietnam case)

For those who applied in Vietnam — do they really need 6 months of bank statements, or would 3 months be acceptable?

Also, can the bank account used for the statements be different from the one showing the 500,000 THB deposit?

Thanks a lot for any info or personal experience 🙏

Would really appreciate if anyone could share how strict different embassies are with these things!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice regarding the DTV visa application process. Key concerns include whether the invitation letter specifies a required Thai embassy, and if it's possible to switch embassies during the application process. They also ask about the sufficiency of 3 months of bank statements for financial proof, and if the account used for these statements can differ from the one that shows the required 500,000 THB deposit. Responses indicate that supporting documents should match the embassy’s requirements and a closing balance of at least 500,000 THB is recommended.

How about telling us what you have already done ???

Have you already been denied the DTV visa in Vietnam ?

What is your passport nation?

Where are you now?

YES, have the Muay Thai training gym prepare documents to submit to the Thai Embassy or Consulate where you will be applying.

If the Thai Embassy or Consulate requires 6 months of bank account statements, show them 6 months.

With a closing balance of at least 500,000 Thai baht or more.

Be prepared for requests for added documents, such as your sources of income, AND be sure to submit proof of at least 6 months of Muay Thai training.
