What are the requirements and best practices for applying for a Thailand DTV visa?

Hi everybody,

A few questions about DTV:

- firstly: does it matter how long I have had the minimum 500K in my bank account?

- does anybody know if index funds also count as part of the 500K?

- is there any checklist of things that are ALWAYS a good idea to check before applying?

- how big is the difference between embassies and what are the best ones to go to right now?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion addresses several key points regarding the Thailand DTV visa application process. It confirms that the minimum 500,000 THB must be held in an accessible bank account, and index funds do not qualify as part of this requirement. Additionally, participants share advice on checking embassy differences, suggesting that applying in the home country is safest, while also recommending Laos for those already in Thailand.

The best and safest is always your own home country. However, if you're already in Thailand and want to travel to the surrounding countries and apply there, I would personally recommend Laos. They will invite you for an interview, but at least you have the opportunity to speak to someone and explain some of the details of your visa application

The 500k must be in an accessible bank account. You can't use index funds
