What is the DTV visa application process regarding the 500,000 THB requirement?

Seeking a straightforward answer to my question regarding the DTV visa application process

I have all the requirements, but my query revolves around the 500,000 thb sum in a bank account in my name, now online I read 100x different things, some saying I need 6 months of statements, some saying I need 2, some even saying that this isn’t that important, and it’s left me confused looking for a straightforward answer.

I have the 500,000 thb funds, but it’s currently sitting in a family savings account under my brothers name, as soon as I want to apply my plan was to just transfer that into my account then start the process! will I still be accepted if I transfer this into my account a couple of weeks before doing my application? Or do I have to transfer it now, then wait a whole six months before I can apply? As this seems like a nightmare when realistically I want to apply as soon as possible!

If anyone has dealt with this before and can provide any information or experience it would be greatly appreciated

Cheers!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The application process for a Thai DTV visa can be confusing, particularly regarding the requirement for having 500,000 THB in your own bank account. While it is essential for the funds to be in your name, the length of time the money needs to be held in your account varies by embassy; requirements can range from no seasoning to needing up to six months of bank statements. It's advised to consult with the specific embassy you're applying to for their exact policies, as the rules may differ. Transferring the funds into your account shortly before applying might be acceptable, but it's best to document both the movement of funds and any existing statements showing the money in your brother's account to clarify ownership.

Why ask “dumb” people on FB when you have “knowledgeable” people in the embassy?

THEY will judge if you can get the visa, not us.
Mark ********
Maybe,maybe not there is no definitive answer, Simply the sooner the better.

November last year and if you search the Destination Thailand Visa group you will find a full write up of the process I did

You’ll never get a straightforward answer, just dozens of conflicting opinions, not even Thai immigration officers know their own laws. It’s an ongoing nightmare. The more you try to find out the more differing opinions you’ll get & the more confusing it will be.

Good Luck

@William *****
it's not immigration, it's the embassy he's applying through that will tell him.

I'd move the money and show statements from both accounts showing the movement into your name and the length of time the money has been in your brothers account.

Just curious, if it is indeed your money, why is it in your brother's account. I think embassy will be suspicious of the real owner of the funds.

@Tony *********
I agree. Red Flag.
Anna *********
It must be in your own name but once that is done the length of time is variable depending on the Embassy and the person looking at the application. With some it really is days and others want 6 months worth of statements but the total doesn't have to be the full 500K and others want 3 months with the full amount and everything in between. Best idea is search looking for the embassy you plan to use and see what people have experienced. Good luck

@Anna ********
so you are saying that the staff in embassies treat applications differently - I find that hard to believe
Anna *********
@Kim ********
not deliberately perhaps but yes they do. It becomes apparent from the different things people are asked to provide at the same embassy eg seasoning times, payslips, parents info (weird) some soft powers approved and then not etc etc
Kim *********
@Anna ********
OK - but I am really surprised - it's actually a scandal if it is like that 😒
Anna *********
@Kim ********
not a scandal at all Like a driving test If the instructor is having a bad day they may pick up more faults than a happy person Just human nature
Kim *********
@Anna ********
embassies are supposed to follow the rules exactly - each and every one of them. So of course it's a scandal
Anna *********
@Kim ********
as are driving instructors/ testers and people die on the roads

Every embassy has there own rules so there’s already wriggle room Again not a scandal
Kim *********
@Anna ********
again a scandal - over and out

In your own name, not your brothers in there for two months for first time, three months after that
Graham ******
@Colin ********
if these are seasoning requirements you need to state which Embassy or Consulate has the application requirement and which Immigration Office has the extension requirement
Colin *********
@Graham *****
no matter which immigration or embassy the money has to be a your own account
Graham ******
@Colin ********
Yes, without a sponsorship letter, but the seasoning period can differ

but the question was regarding financials for the DTV so different again

oh I give up ,carry on

Which embassy are you applying from? That is the policy you follow. Embassies vary from no seasoning needed for the 500k to 6 months.

Australia seem to be very reasonable and don't insist on months of seasoning but do search the threads for actual experiences

Ok, it can be confusing but the DTV is not one fit all embassies vary. I had 500k for 3 days when applying in Taipei. One friend had it for an hour before submitting in London, one had it for 4 months to apply in Laos.

There isn't a straightforward answer. There's a reason you've seen 100 different things.

Every embassy has their own policies. You must meet the rules of the embassy you will be applying at. This is a question for that embassy.

Some just want to see a balance. Some want to see 1 month, 3 months, 6 months. It even changes sometimes at the same embassy. That's why the only ones who can answer the question are the ones who will actually be processing your application.

@Brandon ***********
what ever you bring they will ask for something different. It's the games they love to play. If you bring 2 months then they will ask for 3 months and if the person behinds you brings 3 months they will ask for 6. It's the Thai way. Depends on color of your shirt and you will eat for lunch and of your blonde or brown hair. Get the point. Just be prepare for more than one visit
Brandon ************
@Matthew ********
bring what where? No one is bringing anything anywhere on the e-visa system.
Matthew *********
@Brandon ***********
In general when they ask for documents. Don't act stupid. You knew exactly what I meant. Regardless if it's online or at immigration. It's the game
Brandon ************
@Matthew ********
you might think that way, but most people look at the requirements, provide what is asked, and get what they need without issues
Matthew *********
@Brandon ***********
that is a crock of shit everyday people post about a different experience. It's never the same. And what is posted online doesn't mean shit. I loved how someone posted while back that health certificate was needed clearance of std and ot said syphilis. When has that ever been done. Just it says for many online criminal back ground . Rarely has that ever been enforced. And online never keeps up with changes. Unlike you I just forgo the hassle and get agency like the one this group owns.

@Matthew ********
Maybe people have different experiences because their circumstances are different

@Ricky *******
have you checked the website of your Thai embassy to see what they say for DTV requirements?

@Ricky *******
the best thing to do is put the money into a bank account in your name only. You can not do anything until that is done.

@Kool ******
yes I completely agree and that’s what I’m going to be doing. But my main reason for coming here to ask my question was it still leaves me unsure about when I can apply, I don’t want to start the process if I’m going to be rejected because the funds have not been there for let’s say 6-12 months, but at the same time I want to start the process as soon as possible, so was wondering if anyone had any insight into that side of things!

Again, I understand that there is not a super clear answer on this matter but I really appreciate you taking the time to comment!

@Ricky *******
the time frame all depends on what country you are in when you apply. In Vietnam you can face a six month time frame, yet in Taiwan it is just 30 days. It all depends on where you apply. What Thai embassy/consulate are you going to apply at?
