What are the requirements for the DTV visa bank statement, and should I apply at HCMC or London embassy?

Hello, I'm sorry as I know this question is repetitive. But the only condition for DTV I could struggle with is the bank statement of 500,000 baht being held for a long period of time.

I was quite hoping to deposit it shortly before applying, but of course, many people say it has to be in there for 3-6 months.

But also many people say, it does not matter, some people even putting the 500k in right before applying.

I heard this is embassy specific. Can anyone give more details on what embassy I should go to?

Considering between HCMC (most convenient) or London (less convenient but I heard the most lenient on this)

Other embassies also open to going!

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The bank statement requirement for the Thailand DTV visa can vary by embassy, with some requiring the 500,000 baht to be held for 3-6 months, while others may be more lenient. It is crucial to check specific embassy guidelines and consider applying in your home country to adhere to these requirements. Many expatriates suggest maintaining stable financial activity over several months to support your application.

If you struggle to have 500,000 THB then you likely are not ready to have a long-term visa.

I started and applied for the DTV visa put 16,000 in. I went through a legal firm. They changed the rules a week before submitting and now you have to have 16,000 in a bank statement for up to six months that wasn't the way before it changed mid gameshow show them my CD with more than enough and we're still waiting
Ollie *******
Only had above 500k for one of my statements over a period of six months. I still sent the 6 months and, what I did instead was attached 6 months of payslips of my income, which they accepted.

The financial requirement for a DTV visa is to demonstrate savings of 500k anywhere, it is not the same as a marriage or retirement visa where the requirement is 2 months in a Thai bank account. DTV just requires a statement from your home bank or investments.

In the beginning when this visa first became available last July there were no time-frames of how long the money had to be in your bank account. Now, as the abuses have been recognized, one month is the minimum at some embassies, with 3-6 months now the norm at the countries around Thailand. Taiwan is the most lenient still.

If Yuu go through an agent that can’t make anything happen with the seasoned money

But the costs will be eye popping on the rates they charge for the service

If you’re living the Skint life just forget about the visa because SEAsia is not the place to end up destitute

You should not go to any Embassy, it’s e-visa, and applying is done at

Apply in you homecountry, then the embassy staff will know how most of the supporting documents will look like originating from that country, and less danger of have to provide additional documents, which will expedite the visa process.

And you save costs of going to and stay up to several weeks in a 3. country, which you have no interest in, hotel and other costs quickly add up.

Many embassies want to see X months of bank statements, depending on your DTV scheme, but they aren't necessarily demanding that 500K is in the account all that time. They aren't going to look favorably on an account with a couple hundred dollars and then suddenly $16,000 is plunked into it a week before the application date. You can show a final balance, but more than that you need to show stable financial independence.

exactly this. They don't want to see that one has the ability to borrow 500k for a few days, they want to see that you are able to support yourself inside Thailand which is why they want to look at some months of financial activity at most consulates.

You need to ask the embassies themselves if you want accurate and the most up to date information. HCMC I've no clue about. However, according to a friend applying soon, London right now want to see 11k+ banked for a minimum of 3 months.

Look at the DTV Facebook group and do a search to see what others needed for those two embassies/consulates.

If it's on the list of requirements, then I doubt you can get around it.

there is a special "Destination Thailand Visa" Facebook group, focussed on DTV only, where you will most probably receive a guaranteed answer regarding the seasoning requirement of the Royal Thai Embassies & Consulates in the various neighbouring countries of Thailand

to have the 500,000 THB equivalent in one's account is a fixed requirement, but how long it has to have been in the account differs from embassy to embassy, as THAT question is not specified in the overall requirement list. Some embassies want to see a 6-months seasoning, others a 3 months seasoning, and some do require no seasoning at all. . . How long a seasoning is required from a specific embassy, where you plan to apply by their e-visa system, you need to email them and inquire
Lynnette *******
"Many people say", is not what you need to do. It's what the embassy you apply at that sets the rules.

@Lynnette ******
if embassies would have all the answers, this group wouldn’t exist. The problem is that rules are not established, people who apply have different experiences which makes application process confusing.. the reason Vietnam is so popular to apply for DTV visa is because of people’s experiences. “Many people say” is a valid point
Lynnette *******
@Erlandas *******
many people say, is not a valid point at all. Not unless the embassy is named. No one knows where these "many people" have applied.
Lynnette *******
@Erlandas *******
people experiences will differ because they apply at different embassies. Those embassies decide what they require. So if seeking an answer you'd have to post the question to include which embassy you are applying through.

I wrote in my post considering London or HCMC, the reason being is I am flexible which embassy I use. I would go for the embassy that cares the least about 'seasoning time'. The embassies would never tell me directly ' we dont care about seasoning time here' and i think asking them is actually suspicious of me to do (draws attention). so I need real word on the street so to speak, 'X embassy doesn't care'. I hear: 1) London then i hear mixed on Vietnam / Taiwan
