Hi everyone. The plan is to fly into Thailand in September. I have booked asq hotel which I can easily cancel and some flights with KLM on a flexible ticket. How far ahead do I need to do the COE application? It's asking for a vaccination certificate which I don't have yet due to only having one vaccination so far. Also do I need to get my visa and insurance before doing the COE? Or can I apply then add those things in after?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the correct timing for applying for the Certificate of Entry (COE) to Thailand, particularly in relation to vaccination certificates and visa requirements. A comment clarifies that obtaining a visa is necessary before applying for the COE. It is also advised to complete all requirements within 15 days of starting the COE application, as some offices reject applications made over 15 days prior to departure due to changing circumstances.

You need Visa first. Insurance you don't need to get the pre-approval usually, but you have to have everything completed within 15 days of starting the COE process.

Also some offices are rejecting all requests that come in over 15 days before your departure date. This is because the situation is changing so quickly that they don't want to have to re-do your COE if you apply and receive it now and something changes before then. They got hit with this situation when they raised quarantine back to 15 days for everyone and had to re-issue hundreds of COEs

No visa is needed, you get 45 day stamp on arrival. But you still need all the other stuff.

I know but I want to stay longer than 45 days

How long do you want to stay, because it's only a 15 day difference with a visa. With or without visa, can extend 1 time 30 days for 1900 baht.

I would have thought that the COE, Insurance, Covid test, Quarentine (for those vaccinated) etc , would no longer be required once things get back to normal, hopefully by October or November...???

thanks, so I should wait till it's abit closer to my date? I think there are going to be so many changes ahead!

@Olivia ******
yes. You used to be able to apply whenever you wanted, but now they may just immediately reject your application. Also most visas are only good for 90 days, so you might want to wait until at least July before applying for yours in case something happens and need to push your trip back a little bit. And since you need the visa to do COE, it's best to wait.
