Hello, can anyone suggest the cheapest and quickest way to complete a DTV border run?
I’m fast approaching my deadline (180 days) to leave so I don’t exactly plan on taking a short vacation anymore so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the cheapest and quickest options for completing a DTV border run, emphasizing the urgency due to a 180-day deadline. Responses highlight various travel methods, reflecting on factors like location—specifically confirming they are in Bangkok—and suggest options such as bus travel to various border points (e.g., Mukdahan to Savanaket), flights to neighboring countries (like Laos), and considerations between cost and speed.
I hate to be like this but you need to grow up and make your own decisions. No one but you knows your budget nor what you mean by "quickest." If you are in Bangkok then you have to know that a flight to one of the neighboring countries is the quickest, but not the cheapest compared to the train or bus. Its all tradeoffs and only you can decide what is worth it to you and what isn't.
Yes, you need to go to a land border, cross it, then come back - totally free on a DTV unless a payment is needed to reach that border or they charge you to enter their country/get a stamp/visa.
Since you didn't say where you are in Thailand, just go to the bus station and buy the cheapest bus ticket to the nearest border checkpoint. Leave Thailand and immediately re-enter. Then take the bus back
ElegantFox9903 take the overnight bus to Mukdahan, cross over to Savanaket, then cross back into Thailand, and take the next bus back to Bangkok. That is the cheapest way from Bangkok, and should be completed in one night and day.
