TLDR : Answer Summary
Individuals in Chiang Mai approaching their 180-day visa limit are seeking quick re-entry options. Suggestions include taking a bus or flight to nearby borders, using local visa run companies, or simply applying for an extension at a local immigration office. Some users emphasize travel as an opportunity to explore nearby countries rather than focusing solely on the cost of re-entry, while others discuss the challenges of extending a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) within Thailand.

My suggestion is to go travel and not base your life around the cheapest in/ out option. SE asia has a lot of great spots to see.

You can use a Chiang Mai visa run company to Chiang Khong, or make your way to the Sop Ruak Immigration Crossing at the Golden Triangle. Depending on your nationality $40 USD absolutely perfect notes, or 2,000 baht.

Dany Nomads search his name in this group chat. He successfully extended DTV visa. By his reports it was a fair bit of work. In my opinion if I’m gonna spend a whole day collecting documents, and perhaps a 2nd or 3rd meeting with immigration, it’s far faster and more chill to just take a 2 day weekend anywhere else…. Just use google flights explore mode so see which international destinations are a single flight from your airport and select accordingly. I’ve had no issues with multiple border runs 😁

. I come in and out on the DTV regular. Extending in country is almost impossible for most people on soft power. The point is, out of thousands and thousands of DTV holders, only one or two have ever extended without leaving it seems. That was the point I was getting at. The poster was making out it was an easy process, but it isn't ✌️

Anonymous participant No, it is very easy, but the problem is that you have to meet the requirements.

There was no DTV 20 years ago. We know other extensions are easy. DTV extensions are notoriously difficult. Have you done a DTV extension?

DTVPeckerBeggar Let me see, you visit an Immigration office and get the list with requirements, you copy or get all, tick the list and when done you apply.

It does not matter if you apply for 30 days on basis of being a tourist, being over 50 years of age or a wittnesss in a court case.

Same procedure.

Why is it so hard for DTV holders who are honest and truthful about their stay in Thailand?

Ist that because they do not train or learn anymore, is that because the all work on line but having a dtv based on softpower or dependent.

Is that because DTV holders shout that all is allowed but suddenly they found out that they ared ay dreamers?

I’ll take that as a no. You’re not even a DTV holder. Get a hobby instead of commenting to every post in this group.

DTVPeckerBeggar My hobby is to help people who want to live in Thailand.

Sorry to read that you think those with questions are not allwoed to get any help to achieve their dreams.

That you can not meet the set requirments is simply your problem.

It is so fun to read that DTV holders set all the rules and regulations but keep telling that Immigration does not issue Extensions and more and more applications at Embassy get not approved.

Why would that be? Maybe time to stop the incorerct information and start to understand that it was not you who set the rules.

I'd rather have teeth pulled than attempt an extension with the DTV at the moment
