what would stop me from entering with a 60 day visa and then extend it 30 days, and then get a 60 day covid extension after that? thus i get 5 months? i guess what would stop me is they want a roundtrip ticket proof and i could only prove the first 60 days worth of visa time

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the possibility of entering Thailand on a 60-day visa, extending it for an additional 30 days, and then applying for a 60-day COVID extension, potentially allowing a stay of up to five months. Key limitations include the requirement to show proof of onward travel, which could be a return ticket or a cheap flight. There is uncertainty about the continuation of the COVID extension program past its expiration date of September 27th, with various opinions on whether it will be extended or not. Some participants suggest considering the non-immigrant O visa as a viable alternative.

looks like best optiion is to just come for three months total on tourist visa and 30 day extension . easy and i thinnk the health insurance would be easier too. this covid nightmare will never end. world wide tourism is screwed

Nothing if they extend the 'covid extention' past 27th September.

so it looks like the non immigrant o a is the answer

Only thing that would stop you is if they discontinue the covid extension program. Right now, it is expiring on 26-Sept...unless the govt extends the program. ;)

I went in on a 60 TR, went for my 30 day extension and they offered me a 60 day covid, I could stay an extra month but not 2 so I was fine with that. They didn’t ask about my ticket or covid insurance (that was 90 days)

onward travel and insurance are only requirements upon entering the country, no one will ever ask you about them when extending a tourist visa.

Just entering need to show onward travel, this can be return ticket or onward travel. Can by cheap flight to singapore 2500 baht

Nobody knows how long the covid extension will last at moment end of september.

Plan was to open country up October 1st but cannot see that happening

>and then get a 60 day covid extension after that?

As of right now, the last day to get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 is September 27th. I do not expect that extension of stay to continue.

they will probably keep it in effect or something similar as long as border runs are off the table because of quarantine regulations, but then again it’s thailand so any guess is fair game

then i need to get a non immigrant a o i guess. i mean what options does someone have after the 60 day visa and one extension of 30 days, none. i guess ,

I'm expecting no other options (assuming you don't want to study). If you're over 50, and have 800K THB, you may be able to get a Non-O visa inside Thailand for being over 50.
