Will I be able to extend my stay in Thailand with a COVID extension after arriving in September?

Hi everyone.

Quick question...

I want to come to Thailand round about September. I wish to stay for about 5 months. If I arrive and obtain the Visa on arrival as well as extend it. The time would have passed on to about 3 months, right?

By that time it would already be November/December. Will I still be able to extend my stay there with the COVID extension for an additional 60 days? Can someone please shed some light on the topic regarding the COVID extension and if it would still be available to get it done closer to the end of the year?

Thanks in advance!

Responses indicate that the COVID extension program is currently set to expire on September 27, and it is unclear if it will be extended. One participant emphasizes the importance of obtaining the correct visa for the purpose and length of stay, highlighting that there is no specific five-month tourist visa.

These "I'm coming to thailand on xxx date" will I be able to get a covid extension and stay longer threads are not productive AT all.

As people stated RIGHT NOW <- meaning today, the covid program is running until Sept 27th. No one knows if it will b e continued OR not. Watch the news.

No one can answer your question because we don't know. The current Covid extension program expires September 27th. We won't know if it's extended again until near the end of September, and they only extend it 2 months at a time, so we'll find out if it's available until November then.

Instead of thinking how to get a visa that will fit your desired lenght of stay I would recommend getting a visa that will fit your purpose of travel. Then adjust your purpose of travel if the visa doesn't fit your desired lenght of stay. Just a thought.

the last day you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 is September 27. You need to apply for a 30 day extension of stay first (at most immigration offices). If you enter on a single entry tourist visa, you can stay for 60 days, and get one 30 day extension of stay

>I wish to stay for about 5 months.

There is no five month tourist visa. You would have to find the right visa for your stay.
