TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about extending their tourist visa in Thailand due to potential COVID-19 related issues, specifically whether they could extend their initial 60-day tourist visa for an additional 2 months without leaving the country. Several comments highlighted that while an extension for 30 days is typically available at the end of the initial visa period, the ability to extend due to COVID may no longer be applicable after certain deadlines, and it was advised to check with immigration authorities for the latest information and requirements.

Best to check with immigration as early as possible.

It’s time to accept now that, when you are lucky enough to come in The Kingdom, you come in with the right visa and you extend the proper way with the proper requirements.

I’d cross that bridge when you get to it. The rules change on the fly all the time.

Unfortunately (as it is now) the 60 day unable to travel due to covid extensions can't be applied for after the 29th of Jan.

no need to get all worked up right now over whether there will or won't be a covid extension available to you when your stamps run out.

hang about, you got stamped in for 60 days, there's a high chance of you being able to get a 45 day extension added to that (taking you until the end of March) for 1900baht so I'd say WAIT until closer to the expiration date of your current stamp and see what the news.

COVID extensions may have ended by then.

So you just entered Thailand without the correct visa for your stay ...as you really planned on staying longer..

Good Luck

okay, IF you just arrived, you got stamped in for 60 days when you arrived AND when that runs down you can apply for a 30 day extension (which they are talking about making a 45 day extension to offset the time you spent in quarantine) .
