Non O-A(Long stay/Retirement) needs the following documents:

Passport,

3 visa application copies,

3 passport size photos,

800k in Thai bank-3 months prior

or letter from embassy stating 800k per year,

Police certification,

Medical certificate(notarized).

Am I missing anything?

1) Does the medical need to be notarized by my embassy, or will immigration accept the clinic/hospital stamp?

2)Will immigration accept a medical certificate from a clinic?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Non O-A visa (long stay/retirement) in Thailand, one needs to provide several documents including a passport, visa application copies, passport-sized photos, proof of financial stability (800,000 Baht in a Thai bank for three months or a letter from the embassy), police certification, and a notarized medical certificate. The process must be initiated from the applicant's home country, as applications cannot be processed within Thailand. It's important to clarify that a medical certificate should ideally be notarized, but in some cases, a simple stamp from a clinic might suffice. Discussions also indicate that some documents like police certificates may not be necessary depending on the visa type and situation.

I have done(Jomtien)the annual extension of non imm O based on retirement for a number of years. Never done a med certificate.
Steve *******
Med cert is for the non imm OA visa

IF you are on a yearly extension that you get from the immigration office I think all you really are wanting to do is change the reason for that extension from one based on marriage to one based on being over 50 (retirement).

You can do this at the immigration office by canceling your extension based on marriage and immediately applying for a new extension based on being over 50 (retirement). You would need to meet the financial requirements of 800K baht in a thai bank account for the requisite time or a letter from your consulate stating you get 65K baht a month in income from abroad.

You can easily change from a marriage extension to retirement one at the immigration office for 1900baht.

@Tod ********
, doing that today, thank you again...๐Ÿ™

@Ha***
, then on any of your entries on that visa you can go there and apply for the yearly extension based on being over 50 (retirement).

I would stop by the immigration office where you live and see what is required as far as documentation

@Tod ********
, thank you...yes retirement is what Iโ€™m applying for on Monday.

@Handy *****
, You cannot get a Non-O-A visa inside the country so anything that is listed at a thai consulate as a requirement is not needed. :/ Unless you're going to slog back to the USA, stop thinking about a Non-O-A visa, because you cant' get them in thailand.

You would be getting a yearly extension based on being over 50 (retirement) at the thai immigration office.

It doesn't require a medical certificate or a police background check.

It requires you bank 800K baht in a thai bank in an account in your name only for the requisite time or the letter from your consulate stating you get 65K baht a month in income. OR a combination of the two that equals 800K baht for the year.

The medical certificate needs to be notarized or just the stamp on the sufficient enough? The medical certificate from clinic is sufficient?Thank you always, Mr Tod

Handy Andy, you say you are in thailand on a Non-O (wife) visa. Does that mean you get a yearly extension based on marriage at the immigration office every year OR does that mean you got your visa at a thai consulate and leave the country every 90 days to get 90 more days? .
Joe ***********
Non O is not just for Marriage. The Non O can also be Extended for One Year based on being age 50 or over (retired).

Please read the two questions(again) at the bottom of the page. ..Yes Iโ€™m in Thailand with a Non O(wife) visa...wanting to change my visa to a Non O-A. I was also asking are there any other documents needed, other than the documents I have listed? Thank you ๐Ÿ™
Robert *******
I read the question, you can NOT apply for this visa at Immigration. You have to apply at the Thai Embassy in Washington U.S.
Joe ***********
The O and the O-A are two different Visas.
Joe ***********
There is a Non Immigrant O Visa 90 days which can be Extended for One Year. Perhaps that is what you are confused about?
Robert *******
You are inside Thailand and holding a Non Immigrant O visa based on Marriage. You can apply at the local Immigration office in your area for an Extension of Stay based on Marriage or if you like based on being over 50 years of age.
Robert *******
Told him twice but seems hard to understand

Robert Lagas, yes of course, I am sorry I don't read the fully question, you're right.

@เธˆเธญเธซเนŒเธ™ ********
The rules for Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years is what you write, totally different thing than Extension of Stay based on marriage. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Robert *******
For an Extension of Stay based on marriage you need 400.000 Thb in Thai bank account on your name 2 months prior the application date with updated bankbook. Or a letter from your Embassy stating that you have a monthly income of minimum 40.000 Tha a month
Patrick ********
Robert is it
*****
0 bt in Thai bank account for 6 months? Also criminal record check? So many people just guess at times
Joe ***********
Everything is done in the Applicant's Home Country for a Non Imm O-A visa
Robert *******
You try again I answer again. You can not apply for the Non Immigrant O-A visa inside Thailand.
Joe ***********
Wrong - the 800,000 Baht EQUIVALENT has to be in a bank of the Applicant's Home Country
