What are the financial requirements for extending a marriage visa in Thailand if I have a job?

I currently have a visa based on marriage but since my last extension, I got a job in Bangkok. Is there any difference in the financial requirements or is it still 400,000b in my account? Showing a work permit and salary would obviously be easier so just want to know if that is possible. If it makes any difference, previous extensions were in Cheangwatthana but this one will be in Samut Prakan as I moved there a couple months ago.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a marriage visa in Thailand while having a job, you can demonstrate financial stability through several methods: 1) Banked Money Method: Maintain 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account in your name for at least 2 months before applying. 2) Monthly Income Method (with international transfers): Transfer at least 40,000 baht monthly into a Thai bank account in your name for the previous 12 months. 3) Monthly Income Method (by working legally): Show proof of earning a salary of at least 40,000 baht per month with documentation from your employer, needing a minimum of 3 months' work history. Some find it easier to meet the 400,000 baht requirement than to gather all necessary documents for salary proof.

My experience at CW1 was for employment for marriage extension they need many documents and require originals from company, not photocopy. In the end it was simpler to show 400,000 in bank.

I never said anything about retirement visa. When I worked I had extension based on marriage which is allowed. All I was alluding too was that sometimes the paperwork is more onerous based on working and can take several trips to satisfy the IO.

the company will he able to deal with it, but thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure they have everything they need. It's 3 months from now, just making sure before it becomes a stress

you can meet the financial requirements for a yearly marriage extension three ways,

1 - Banked Money Method

bank 400k baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the yearly extension

2 - Monthly Income Method (using international transfers)

transfer a minimum of 40K baht a month into a thai bank account in your name only each month, every month for the previous 12 months

3 - Monthly Income Method (by legally working in thailand)

have a salary of 40K baht a month, get documentation from your employer, etc and prove you have legal income of at least 40K baht a month (needs to be a minimum of 3 months work history before you apply for your extension using earned income inside thailand)

Hi Tod, a quick question regarding Method 2 you mention - the 40K into a Thai Bank account under your own name (international transfers) Does this income have to be validated by the respective Embassy?

Good to know, thanks as always

for the embassies that issue an affidavit of income from abroad notary letter you use that (and don't need to transfer the money in to the account at all) BUT for the embassies that don't (US, UK, Australia) you just transfer it in and show they are oversea transfers to your thai account
