TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to obtain a yearly extension based on marriage in Thailand using a work permit instead of the typical 400,000 Thai baht bank deposit. You will need to show proof of a stable income of at least 40,000 Thai baht per month and provide various documents from your employer, including a work permit, company letter, tax documents, and possibly more. It's advisable to consult with your local immigration office for their specific requirements, as missing any documentation can lead to complications in securing your extension.

I'm on marriage visa (extension of stay), and have a work permit, using the work permit to manage extensions is the most difficult of the three methods as it involves paperwork from your company and evidence of tax returns. If you've got a work permit you should have a regular income of at least 50k (european), which makes it simpler to go down the monthly income route after the first year. Personally i stick with the 400k as its the least headache.

How about changing visa to a non b?

@Billy *******
marriage visa much more preferential to non-b. If i stop work tomorrow, it has no impact on my right to stay. And for companies its prefered as they dont have to present accounts etc to support a visa.

Sound advice, use the 40k wages to live on and keep your bank balance topped up to maintain 400k seems much simpler

It is totally okay to use working legally inside thailand with a salary at least 40K baht a month to get a year extension based on marriage to a thai.

With that being said, you need a veritable PILE of paperwork from your employer, (contract, work permit, their company records that shows the employ enough thaiz to offset your holding, your tax filing, your withholding etc)

It is a document HEAVY way to get an extension but it can be done.

Take the advice from the other mods about checking with your immigration office to heart because miss one document and you don't get the extension. ๐Ÿ˜•

Check your local immigration office. You may need to get some documents from your employer along with your work permit, such as company letter (and contract), tax documents (forms and proof of payment), company certification, photos from work, etc, etc.

Suggest you ask your Thai immigration office for their list of requirements for the one year extension of stay as Married to Thai.

You will need to show PROOF of your earnings of 40,000 Thai baht my monthly for your extension

Or a deposit of 400,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your own name.
