TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Non-O visa from London, the common misconception is that you need to show £18,000 in your bank account. However, the actual requirement is to demonstrate 800,000 THB for a one-year extension or a lower amount (around £10,000) if your application is based on marriage or having Thai dependents. Some commenters suggest maintaining slightly higher amounts in your accounts to account for exchange rate fluctuations.

Are you applying for the 90 day single entry Non O based on being married to a Thai or have a child with a Thai?

If so then no, you don't need £18,000 in the bank. I recently done mine and only showed my bank statements with my income on them for the last 3 months.

the required 800,000 THB is a tad more than just 18,000 GBP. I suggest you place 19,000 GBP into your British account, and for the application in Thailand for the 1-year extension, just have 850,000 THB in your Thai bank account, for your own safety. Once you got this deposit, you can't get under it anymore due to exchange rate fluctutions

thank you for your information, lot smart arse holes on this site now 1 wants my number😂I will have 800k in my kasikorn account before I leave Thailand in May, am returning in November but need that non o from London, many thanks for your help
Ian *********
@Tom ******
so do you also need 800k in a thai bank account?
Nongnuch ********
@Tom ******
it#s okay. Some smartasses will argue that you put that money in a fixed account earning you a good interest, and pay an agent in Thailand to front you and use tea money to bribe Immigration
Nongnuch ********
@Tom ******
that da a good way to do it. Having the bank account secured already, and transferred the requested minimum of 800,000 THb. You actually could use that money on a Thai bank account for the financial proof required for the application to the visa in England, and then easily fulfil the 2-month seasoning requirement for the application to the 1-year extension of stay
Ian *********
Is that for intentions to turn into retirement visa?
Graham ******
@Ian ********
The Non-O is the retirement visa (over 50)

@Graham *****
thanks for that info. 🙏does the £18,000 need to be in a uk bank, or thai bank accout if you are applying from embassy in London? 🙏

Any account in your name only
Ian *********
@Graham *****
wow, i thought it could only be in a thai bank account in my name!
Graham ******
@Ian ********
not if you get the Visa from an Embassy

@Graham *****
Thats great news, and it removes any tax-concerns which depositing into a thai bank account would create! 🙏
