TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus from several commenters is that no proof of funds is required when applying for a Non-O visa based on marriage at the Thai embassy in London. Multiple users confirmed their experience of acquiring the visa without needing to show financial statements. However, some users advised caution about potential inquiries regarding having funds upon entering Thailand and highlighted that you can work with a Non-O visa under certain conditions.

At the London embassy they also have a habit of stamping ‘employment prohibited’ on a non imm visa based on marriage to a Thai citizen! I know it’s not, you can work on those visas, but they’re an odd bunch in that office!

I would say if you can't/don't want to do that, just come here on a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp or a 60 day tourist visa then go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet and get either a 90 day or a year long, Non-O visa without any proof of funds at all.

you sign everything with your name on it your wife signs everything with her name on it, meaning you both sign the copies of the marriage certificate ;)

-Original thai marriage certificate with the rose border
copies of;
-the data page of your passport
-the front/back of the marriage cetificate
-the front/back of your wife's thai i/d card
-your wife's thai house book listing
Those things a filled out application, 2 passport sized photoz, your passport and 5000baht get you the visa
, what are the requirements for a 12 month Non O in Savannakhet please
