Anyone have any info.... re tourist visa's

We are currently in Kuala Lumpur and was hoping to get a new tourist visa.

I think we had 2 last year and have been out of the country for 6 weeks since our last one.

We are had planned to come back because we want to get married on Koh Chang. We have had friends book flights already.... Oh dear

We have just been to the embassy in Kuala Lumpur and was told we may NOT get a 60 day tourist visa. ( we have put in the paperwork)

Anyone have any helpful suggestions?

Thanks in advance..

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user currently in Kuala Lumpur seeks advice on obtaining a new tourist visa for Thailand after previously being told they might not secure a 60-day visa. They express urgency due to plans to marry on Koh Chang, despite prior visa applications. Commenters provide varied suggestions about alternatives for visa applications across nearby consulates, share experiences about entry requirements, and discuss the importance of meeting specific conditions when returning to Thailand. After the discussion, the user ultimately reveals receiving the visa, leading to congratulatory messages from the community.

If you're flying back, make sure you meet all the requirements for entering Thailand (i.e. 20,000 baht CASH each (or equivalent...must be cash, as they won't let you go to an ATM), accommodations booked and a flight out of the country). Just because you have a visa doesn't guarantee you entry into the country and several people doing back to back to back visa runs have been denied entry at DMK and BKK.

Proof of fund is 40,000 thb (or equivalent) cash for family, no need for each family member. There is no ATM to withdraw cash on air-side.

Congrats, safe travels back into Thailand.

If Malaysia doesn't work out Laos might be a good choice (there's a direct flight from KL to VTE). You can enter by land from there too...

... Yes we have been before :) For some reson I am slowly going off the idea.... I cannot imagine why..lol

There's a thai consulate in Kota Bharu Malaysia as well and they are known for being a little easier on issuing tourist visas you could try there if you're denied in KL. AND there are direct flights from KL to Kota Bharu too ;) Then you could cross by land

and I guess we'll find out tomorrow whether she got the visa or not... I'd say we're done for now..

Penang has an embassy too. However, I was told by the Penang embassy staff that I can apply for a tourist visa there only once.

If you manage to get the visa, avoid flying in as you might get denied entry at the airport, and try the Sadao land border. There are night bused directly from KL for a good price and you can fly to Bangkok from Hat Yai.

be prepared for a denial. As you know from your several year history of living in Bangkok on various visas and exempt entries, its time to buy the Thai Elite Visa or get a job with a work permit.

BTW...I do not recommend you fly back into Thailand. Use carefully chosen land border entry.

And any entry is the decision of the Thai Immigration Officer.

That is true regardless of your obtain I by a new Tourist visa tomorrow.

Good luck.

I don't know what you're wanting as far as suggestions seeing as you have already turned in your application and passport :/

I mean at this point you'll either get the passport back with a valid tourist visa in it, get the passport back with NOTHING in it, OR worse case get the passport back with a tourist visa in it that says "VOID WITHOUT PREJUDICE"..

That isn't the most user friendly consulate to apply for a tourist visa from to begin with BUT good luck with it.

Hi Tobi Daniels my gut says we are not going to get it. So I am looking for other options. Wx

You went to the Thai Embassy without an appointment, without a filled in and signed checklist, without a filled in and signed application form, without the copies as asked on the checklist?

Or did you do all above and hand in your application?

@Robert ******
we have put in all the paperwork.

Than you pick up your passport at the appointment time you made and see the result.

From the way I read the post, it sounds like she just asked about getting a new visa, and didn't apply yet. She wants confirmation that she'll get the visa, or will get rejected.

In my opinion, there is a chance you'd get denied. But, you said you are getting married; is your husband-to-be Thai by chance?

1. What's your nationality?

2. What is your visa history? Were you here on visa exempts, or tourist visas, or Non-B's or...

3. How long are you planning on staying in Thailand?
